Why must there be pockets in almost everything?  Maybe I'm in the minority, but pockets add extra bulk.  I don't care how flat they lay, it's extra bulk, which I do not need.  I carry most of my weight in the hips and the extra bulk adds inches.  Pockets may be fine for some people, but not me.  That's why I carry a handbag.

Most of us want them, especially since everybody has a cell phone.  I don't need a handbag to carry a tissue or lip gloss.  So much handier to use a pocket for small stuff.

@Kachina624  My thoughts exactly.   In fact, back "in the day" when I used to sew......I added pockets to patterns that didn't have any.   di

@countenance I feel lucky because I am WAY more concerned about convenience than extra bulk!

I don't mind pockets.  It's hoods that I can do without.

I agree --- don't care for or need pockets -- especially in my pants.  And I don't especially like hoods on tops either.  They never lay right. I only like them on some outside jackets as they are good for rain or whatever.

Love pockets!  They are an absolute necessity in pants because when I travel do not want to be digging into a purse to find something.  Just stuff it in the pockets.  I would put pockets in skirts, dresses and if the item has them, it is a big selling point for me.

BTW, I'm a "pear" shape but pockets do not add that much bulk that they outweigh the convenience of having them.

I feel so disappointed if I get a pair of pants delivered and realize I hadn't checked if they had pockets and they don't ! A lot of times, too,  the description doesn't mention it, it's hard to see in the pictures, and if somebody doesn't mention in the comments, it's a chance I take. Gotta have pockets for the lip balm, etc.

I also want pockets, I don't have a problem with 'bulk'.

I've been interested in several styles of Laurie Felt jeans/capris but most don't have pockets, so I don't buy them.

@countenance I totally agree, usually I sew the pockets shut and or cut them off and sew the seam! They add bulk!
