I love the Gourmet Holiday shows but it seems lately as if some of the hosts are deliberately talking with their mouths full or talking amid gulping and swallowing, as if to emphasize how they can barely resist gobbling the wares.
It's literally making me gag and I know I'm not alone! The occasional small taste and then description after chewing and swallowing is one thing, but the exaggerated "gulllp" "mm mm and the buttery mm.. sweet taste...mmm gulp" that hosts like Sharon are doing lately is just gross.
And while they are at it, "ooey gooey" which even the vendors are using now, it not necessarily the most appetiizing adjective.

I'm glad I don't have to do their jobs. My mother always taught me not to talk while I'm eating, but the "hosts" are supposed to eat -- and keep talking! I don't know how they do it. Not a fan of Sharon, either, but maybe some people find her over-reactions and descriptions helpful.

People love to make cracks about how David does the food demos. He doesn't bother me at all. Sharon, OTOH ... I'll pass watching her do food, or hit the Mute button.

Sharon is terrible, but Dan Wheeler is downright disgusting. Don't watch when these two are on.

Throes of passion over a darn bite of cake. Lip smacking and eye rolling for added effect. All they need is a cigarette. Click goes the remote.

And I don't buy the argument that the hosts have to eat so they can describe. I rarely, if ever, have seen the vendors eat while presenting and they describe the food item very nicely without the chewing and moaning.

I never watch the food shows. Dan acts like he's never eaten before, and Sharon, well.......enough said.

@MENTL wrote:I remember reading an article about QVC and they were interviewing David V. When he first did the nauseating happy dance the phones lit up and the item sold out in seconds. Now the producer tells him to do the happy dance during certain demos to boost the item sales. He is so phoney, cannot watch him for a second.
David has really grown on me the last couple of years. I don't cook that much, but I watch his shows because I think he's so cute and enthusiastic. He doesn't strike me as phony at all, but different strokes .......
