Don't care. Bigger things to worry about. We all know what they mean.

Yes, please say "dollars" instead of "bucks." I know I'm old school, and from the south, but the word "bucks" always comes off sounding tacky and really sort of suggesting the item is "cheap" (I mean, inexpensive)!

I see Raz just made a similar point. In the South we just don't say those kinds of words--it's just "tacky"!

Actually where the word bucks comes from is very interesting. Probably from the 1700's when lots of trade was using deerskins (bucks) for items needed and not money. Google has lots of info.

I'm surprised QVC has product demonstrators using slang words like Bucks and the Girls. There are proper business (and fashion) words for both words, dollars and bust. I don't like to hear the word 'girls' used as slang any more than hearing the word 'boys' used by males. If QVC sold men's pants would they be talking about 'the boys'? Please, let's reserve the words girls and boys for young children.

Mauve is a French word.

I'm pretty sure you can't speak for the speech patterns, of an entire region.
When I used to occasionally, check out Jerry Springer, for the, "this can't be real" factor, the chair throwing, who is my baby daddy guests, seemed to always be from the South.
I certainly, didn't think though, that they represented, all Southerners!
