Re: Open Letter to QVC Administration

Oh for heaven's sake, how long are you going to continue beating this dead horse?

Give it a rest.

If they want young hosts  why do they still have that one that has "old age spots "all over her arms and legs??? Must turn on an old executive!!!

To the OP, I respect your well written op ed on this lay off situation. I wrote a response to a thread or two back when it happened, so I won't go into all that again. I will say, personally I am suspicious about age, and the last round of lay offs before this occurred where three months later they turned around and Katrina, Vanessa and others were hired. Don't tell me it was their paycheck causing the company to lose money...Same deal...they went younger then too.

Corporate needs to understand unless there is some huge millenial "influencer" that goes on the Q payroll, these younger people have no loyalty to companies, they are in general just "followers". I am surrounded by them in my office, and they are all in general very nice, smart younger people (this is coming from a 40+yo btw but old enough to know they did not grow up the way I did) but the second the new hot thing is promoted by an athlete or some TikTok person then it becomes a "trend".  I put that in quotes because we know all those "viral celebrities" are paid for their alleged "love" of a product. Why do you think the Q is trying to make LiveStreams a cool thing at the Company?

The Q is not a family, and we are not the Q's family. And most of corporate America is that way. You are a number and are always replaceable regardless if you are the employee or the customer. There is no loyalty.  Do not believe the smoke and mirrors they try to use on you.

Having worked for a huge Fortune 500 corporation for nearly 40 years, your last paragraph is spot on!!!

Re: Open Letter to QVC Administration

It also doesn't help that their stock is collapsing....they had huge losses in 2022,and 2023 is not looking much better.

SEVENTY FOUR CENTS a share today (4-19-2023).

Seventy four CENTS people!!!!

I thought last weeks 80 cents was horrendous!!!!

Five years ago....Qurate stock traded at about 25 DOLLARS a share.

Insiders at Qurate are dumping the company stock.

Why is ANYONE surprised that they are laying off, pressuring to sell sell sell or doing ANYTHING to keep in business?

I shopped QVC for decades, still look in each day, but buy a LOT less....not necessarily because of hosts or selection, just don't "need" anything at this point in my life....I'm getting rid of "stuff" and think long and hard before bringing stuff back IN.

Actually, I don't care WHO is hosting or how they act. They are TeeVee salespeople doing thier jobs, no more, no less.

I think we should enjoy what's left of TeeVee shopping while we can, at least on "regular" teevee. They are going to streaming, where they think it's going to be "at".

I will not follow there. I watch so little of the box now, no way will I go out of my way to find shopping channels.

And this whole thread about hosts and thier horrible antics and loud screechy childish techniques and overt camera preening vanity and  talk-over-the-vendor presentations?

Maybe that's why C+D accepted the severance.

We just LOOK at the hosts, and can mute or turn them OFF...maybe C+D couldn't stand the idea of WORKING with them one minute longer!!!!

Re: Open Letter to QVC Administration

I worked 30 years in a Fortune 100 company. I was retired from the company as part of a “lay off”. I was waiting for 5 years for a package & the happiest day of my life as I walked out & never looked back. I loved working there & I had no hard feelings.

The biggest negative thing about a “layoff” is that it’s not voluntary & the decision is made for you. I worked with many who voiced they would love a package but when they got one were insulted.

Many may have liked Carolyn & Dan but how productive were they? Did they work the later hours? Holidays? Did they get along with others? How many products did they present as compared to others? Were they versatile & flexible? Were they developing their own fashion line? Were they selling products at a successful rate?

We know nothing about their work ethic or performance. I don’t buy D&C & have no clue what Dan presented & I have no attachment.

They got a good package & when all is said and done, they’ll be happy.

Why are people worried about Dan? Isn't he a minister? Looks like that would keep him plenty busy...
