Old, old, old threads

[ Edited ]

Is there any way that QVC block really old threads from being be resurrected.  I opened a thread and it was from 2014.  It was brought back 2015 and again just this week.

That irritates me too. You'd think after a certain time of inacitivity, the thread could be dropped.

Old threads can be archived or even deactivated after a certain period of time. It's very easy to insert a statement within the software code to deactivate them. QVC DEV team should do it.

When the moderators took a poll on running the boards a couple years ago, posters said they wanted old posts to remain.

I have opened old threads too thinking they were new. Goes to show nothing much has changed over the past few years. Lol

I thought that was referring to 'old' threads that were still being posted on continually, but I could be wrong.

If they don't want us to revive old threads, they need to take away that ability.  A couple of days ago, a post was removed by a moderator and the reason was reviving an old thread, yet others came along afterward and posted on the thread.  If the moderator didn't want someone to revive an old thread, it should have been closed for commenting.

In many instances, I see nothing wrong with commenting on an old thread like a recipe or beauty product or TV series/movie versus starting a new thread about the same topic.  When I go to start a new thread, there is an option to suggest threads so that you can see if other threads exist about that topic.  Again, just take that option away if you don't want us to revive old threads.

I remember it that posters wanted all old threads to remain, so they could refer to them or whatever they do.  I could have remembered it wrong.  It's not something I really care about.

While it's a bit annoying when old threads are pulled back up, I appreciate the fact that they are still here to refer to.

On balance, I'd rather have the threads around to refer to. @GCR18, and that's also what I thought was the consensus a few years back.

That said, when an old thread is pulled up and creates unnecessary confusion, I'd really appreciate it if the moderators could just step in and just close the thread to new posts. -- One recent example of this would be a 4 year old complaint about a specific problem with QVC customer service and the subsequent discussion about whether or not to refer the matter to the Better Business Bureau.

Form my perspective, it would have seemed like an easy matter for the mods to close this thread to new comments. But if that's too difficult, then I'd just rather have the archived threads made available.
