I'm putting this under suggestion box because....
Recently I just got hearted on a thread from 2017 for Whipping Cream, I think someone was trying to be funny and posted "you got it all wrong" which made the thread current again.
Isn't there anything in the system that can "freeze" those threads, sure keep them out there if you want but bringing up a 5 year old thread isn't necessary.
Let's Freeze everything but the current year, not sure if that's possible.

@Mistreatedbycs If I recall, at one point someone from the Social Team said (and I could be wrong) that if you see a old thread being revived, click on "report inappropriate" and call it to their attention.
They have removed old threads that people have attempted to resurrect.

Yes, they can just lock a thread for further commenting, which is useful if they don't want to delete it.
Some of the older threads have a lot of useful information. But it's annoying, if you respond to one and then realize it's years old. We're not supposed to "bump" older threads, but some posters still do it.

It's an easy fix, from the tech standpoint:
basic programming 101, create a search that loops through the database, locates entries with specified criteria, and then takes some kind of action.
In this case, they could locate threads that have been inactive for a year or more and close them to additional comments.
Then, schedule the process to run daily, automatically.
It's something I've done a gazillion times in my IT career, and it's just not difficult nor is it time-consuming.
Also, I've helped moderate an international forum, and the older inactive discussions were locked in this way, with a daily background search/locate/lock process.
It's standard on many forums.
Doing this puts a halt to bumping and allows older threads to be preserved for the information that can be useful.
The old bumped threads create confusion when we read them thinking they are current...
and when we sometimes see old friends❤️ on the thread who no longer are here but who appear to be actively engaged in a discussion...
and they add to the QVC Social Team's workload since they have to respond to reports and then review the threads.
@Love my grandkids, is correct -- the moderators have asked us to report the old bumped threads when we encounter them.
Since QVC evidently purchased an extremely limited pre-programmed "canned" package for the Community forums, and also we were informed quite some time ago that there would be no additional customization, I seriously doubt we'll see any changes.

@Venezia @Mistreatedbycs @Love my grandkids And sometimes it happens by accident and is not always a deliberate "bump."
I think I have inadvertently "hearted" a comment on an old post not realizing it was a resurrected, older than a year, post.
And there is good info on many of the older threads. I search the Recipes, Kitchen, Home, and Wellness ones often to get information or inspiration.

I didn't realize "hearting" a post bumped it. I thought you had to comment on it. I do like to be able to look back at old threads to get book, movie and recipes reviews.

Hearting a post does NOT cause a thread to be bumped.
ONLY posting on it will.
As a test, I went to the last page of this forum, and picked a random thread. It was a thread titled "Q Needs to Loosen up on Easy Pays!" written by CalminTheHeart on December 15, 2010.
I hearted her post.
It was not bumped up.

I would believe that there are some people who just bump up old threads to be obnoxious. But, I think most of them are posted from new posters who start to type in a topic, the old one shows up, and they just jump in and start posting, not realizing the date. I don't usually remember to check the date all the time. I think it would be great if there could be an automatic lock on posts with no new entries, but not delete them. As others have said, there are a lot of good recipes in some of these older threads and I would hate to lose them, but it IS annoying when you see you have been posting to a thread that is many years old. Those should be locked.
Unfortunately, as simple as it would be per dooBdoo, it will never happen here.

Anyway, the gist of it was
Please don't do it!
I read through a lot of old threads and will sometimes post a link to one. I try to always remind others not to reply or heart in the old thread.
So I wrote in my original post what was said by someone who commented on a 2017 topic.
* Subject was whipping cream
* It was 2017
* The comment was obnoxious
* Someone went through a hearted the post
The Q can lock these, actually there's no reason not to. Actually all of 2020 and prior to that could be locked.
