My Personal Suggestion On How To Sell An Item

Whether it's clothing, jewelry, kitchen items, make-up, handbags or shoes.....

1. Provide the title/make/designer, the "what it is"

2. Show all the colors, choices, styles available directly after

3. Now begin to talk about the details of it and use a color that we can all see the details with....not black or navy

4. When it is clothing, shoes, handbags, make-up, hair product ...go directly to the models so we can see what it looks like on the human body, face, etc.

5. And please stop telling us the obvious or mention that we have a choice of wearing "that top with pants or a skirt"...most people know that kindof thing.

6. Keep it professional, not too much chit chat, or indulge in private funny conversations between the host and vendor

By the title, I thought the thread was about selling things on eBay or the like.  LOL.  I see now I was way off the mark.

I like the chit-chat ..make things interesting.  I don't think it's all cut and dry as you would like.  I don't pretend to know the first thing about sales and what works.  Colors are usually visible right away.  I think they overdue going thru all the colors over and over again.  They are right there on the screen to see.

There's a lot to take into consideration.  Probably more than we think.

Mostly, it's alot of "filler" talk and repeated way too much. I like to see the colors and I like to see the fabric up close, especially if it has texture. I am not saying leave out all chit chat, but they do get carried away at times ( Shawn is an example of that  with Isaac M ). I happen to believe that they would make more sales if they were presenting the item with just the facts and allowing the viewer to decide whether or not they need it  or want it. They spend too much time on each individual item and it gets boring and over done. Just my opinion.

Re: My Personal Suggestion On How To Sell An Item

One thing i wish QVC would do is show the clothing...mainly tops  WITHOUT accesories like scarves or huge statement necklaces on so we can see the neckline style and how it may look on someone....the often show a V neck top/dress and then put a scarf on top and it is hard to judge where the V in the Vneck comes down/up to or how big of a scoop neck the top may be etc...............and also if it is long sleeves stop pusing the sleeves up to 3/4 length to try and make it more adaptable to the season...how many

times i thought it was a 3/4 sleeve top which i like and the top i realize is a long sleeve with the sleeves pushed up...

just show the top/dress/tunic as they look naturally....w/o decoration

I agree

I can see colors but sometimes color names don't register, especially with Logo items.

I might buy some but I'm concerned I'd order the wrong color.

The overnight hosts do a better job.

The "prime time" hosts think they are there to entertain.

Spend more time talking about sizing.

Always let us know what size the models are wearing.

Always have several models in different sizes.

Yes, I am so glad you mentioned sizing. It's all over the place with the various designers and most of us hesitate from ordering because we are not sure of the sizing and tired of having to go through the "return process"

I agree. Give me all the info on the clothing...fabric,length (they never give top lengths). I'll be the judge if I want to walk the dog or meet friends or go to church or pick up the kids or or or...into infinity.
