Re: Male Hosts Presenting Women's Intimates!!!

I don't like this, but I also haven't seen it. I think it's a poor choice of a host by QVC. As others have already said, there are enough female hosts. I have NEVER seen a male salesman in a lingerie department, and if I did I would go the other way!

 I will wait to see what happens if there is a male host with Evelyn and Bobbie designer Bree, when she pushes and pulls the bra on the model's breasts! LOL!   Smiley Wink

@Kachina624 I am not aggravated by it at all. Would you be this upset if a woman was selling men's boxers at Macy's? The pearl clutching about this stuff is ridiculous. It is underwear. Yes, men can sell all the items women do and vice versa. A salesperson just needs to give me the details. That is literally it, that is all I need, and most of the women hosts do not even do that.

Frankly, I am sick of seeing Breezies all the time. Many items have lackluster reviews yet they are on regularly. Many items are only 3 stars...for underwear. If that is all you do and they are "average" why are they still here after how many decades of being at Q? What about some other options? I do say I like the Jockey shows, and get good buys on the multiples of bras and panties.

If anyone is this bothered by men selling women's clothing ... whatever the garment is .... it's time to stop being embarrassed ...  or just stop watching shows.

People seem to forget that many of the designers who have been on QVC have been men, and I don't recall any pearl-clutching about their presence.

Bob Mackie, Isaac Mizrahi, Dennis Basso, Louis Del Olio, Stan Herman, the guy on Denim & Co .....  just to name a few.

It's nice to see that some people's biggest problems right now are who is selling undies.  Wow.

@Tinkrbl44.  I hate to have to bring this to your attention but the male designers were not selling women's intimates.

@Kachina624

Seriously???

Good grief, I KNOW this is a complaint about intimates.

They are undies, and both men and women wear them ... I hope.

I also think successful male designers are well acquainted with women's bodies.

There's really nothing unique about women's panties that a man couldn't grasp.

I realize that QVC requires all hosts to be versatile and display their ability to sell every product, but I think they have breached the lines when John B. is selling Breezies undies!!!!  Seriously?  There is a plethora of female hosts available at any given time to make such presentations.  Don't get me wrong, I like John B.  He is well versed and a great salesman, but please.  Maybe QVC should start selling men's underwear and only have female hosts present those items.  Seems only fair.

@JazzyGirl

I was thinking about your comments, and another thought came to mind ...

Given the obvious anatomical differences between men and women, many would say women are incapable of selling men's boxers or briefs, right?

Since we all have worn panties, the most obvious points are STYLE (briefs, hi-cut, thongs, boxers, briefs, etc) and FABRIC CONTENT (cotton, poly, nylon, lycra, etc).

I'm NOT talking about bras here.

Thinking just in terms of style and fabric content, the GENDER of the salesperson doesn't really matter ... does it?

Honestly I think John does a great job presenting anything. Selling women's clothing in a professional manner says a lot about his ability. Good for him. Cute too.

Unless a host is my size, and none of them are, what do any of them know about my wearing a bra? It's an individual thing.

Just give me the features, the price, and any color choices. Anyone can do that.

To me gender assignment for products is archaic and a step backwards. Equal rights for one in the workplace, means equal rights for all. Do people actually want, what others fought hard for, any other way?

@Etoile308.  Even the equal rights laws make exceptions in certain situations, such as this.

There are very few exceptions to the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. Unless one of the host's duties is to model the underwear, which I have never seen to be the case, then no exemption seem to apply to being an on-air host.

Re: Male Hosts Presenting Women's Intimates!!!

Well, this thread has given me the biggest laugh of the day (and I needed that).  I've read through all the posts.

I'm sorry for those who find a male host presenting women's intimates offensive, but I am totally not bothered by it.  No pearl clutching here.  It's a product being sold, nothing more, nothing less.  I truly thought we were past these types of reactions.

I only wish I'd seen the show, but I might try to find the videos, just for the entertainment value.

(If something like this shocks any woman, I'd wonder how that person feels about being seen by a male doctor.  Much more intimate!)

@JazzyGirl - Darn!  I can't find any video for this show.  When was it on?  Today?  QVC or QVC2?

@Venezia   Great post...

Exactly.
