I atttempted to watch the FallY'all program with David and Amy the other night. Harry Slatkin could barely get the scent description in the conversation because both the hosts were giving quantity updates. Now, that's one issue but lately products have been mentioned that they are sold out only be listed later on in the inventory. The issue with that is that the "special pricing" no longer applies. Perhaps just stating once or twice that the product is selling quickly would sufice. I really don't need to know the specific count. I do need to know the specifics of the product presented.

@KingstonMom What's ITA? All I think about is Italy and I doubt that is your intent.

@Fressa I agree, I cannot understand the purpose of repeatedly (and interrupting) to give us updates on amounts left and/or sold. I know they want us to feel pressured to buy NOW, for a couple reasons. Of course QVC wants to sell out on everything but also the hosts receive "bonuses" for the amount of items sold.
All I can relate to this is it must work in the long run. QVC, as well as any business, is all about sales. Many studies are done to figure us out, the buyers. As for items being listed later after being told they were close to selling out........ I have been to the studio years ago, several times, when we were able to go everywhere and were told many ins and outs of the business. QVC wants to sell out, but, when items are put into carts it is considered sold with their numbers. They also include people calling in to the order line. This is why numbers can be distorted at times.
I pretty much just ignore it and not let it bother me.

@Fressa, it is not unusual for any company to offer special pricing on a limited number availablility. For example, they may have 10,000 of something in inventory but only allocate 3,000 for the special price. The remaining 7,000 and any unsold at the special price are then regular priced. This is a common practice.
Also, the real time remaining includes items that are in someone's cart that are returned to inventory if not purchased within a limited time period making "sold out" items available.

I'm beginning to think that's the only way David can present items. I've stopped watching his Sunday show because of the constant updates. Why can't they just do the color coded crawl across the bottom of the screen similar to what they do for fashions?

It's a sales tactic. They are sales people.

I've never understood the manic, frantic removal of a "sold-out" color from the set. Which usually ends up not being so sold-out the next day.
Are they afraid of some legal ramifications? Just put up a tiny chyron saying color is sold-out (but really isn't.)
It's quite a bizarre spectacle, but ultimately entertaining!
They are, after all, in reality, entertainers!
