I absolutely love the Lock N Lock products. I eventually would love to replace all of my Tupperware (which also has a lifetime warranty and I've taken advantage of that many times) with all Lock N Lock Containers. That being said my Aunt recently passed away on March 29, 2024 and when we cleaned out her apartment I took her Lock and Lock containers. One of the Lock N Lock containers has a broken wing on the lid. So I went on the QVC website and looked at the warranty information, and it requires proof of purchase for replacement lids. I don't know about you, but I don't keep my receipts after a year, two years, three years.... who keeps receipts for 5 years? In any event, I thought I would still call the toll free number and speak to a Lock and Lock representative and explain my situation, after all, it's a good product, and I assumed they'd have excellent customer care service. Was I ever wrong. There's no way I'm going to get a replacement lid, even if I take a picture of the lid that I currently have, with only three wings, and email it to them. They want an order number or a receipt. Hoe ridiculous is that? If I've got the item in my possession, and it's defective, and I prove it by sending them a picture via email, why won't they uphold the warranty? I think that's crappy customer service and I won't be doing anymore business with Lock N Lock. I guess it's back to Tupperware for me because any time I've had an issue with any of my Tupperware (and some of my tupperware is 20 years old or older) they still replace it, and they don't ask me for a receipt or an order number. If I've got the item in hand, and it's defective, they replace it. I guess from a company's perspective, that's how they save money by skirting around the warranty..... because they know people don't keep receipts that long. Frustrating and at the same time disappointing.

I know Diamonique's lifetime warranty was the same. You had to have order number and date to receive service. Also years ago Imperial Gold was the same, and I believe Eterna Gold too. And most of us are like you, we don't keep every receipt for years and years. If it wasn't too long ago one could go through older orders on line and print the info, but they only go so far back too. And this being a relative's item, you would not have access to her account.
You are right, frustrating.

@BJ58- The first 5-10 years when L&L was first offered they did replace lids or defective containers. You had to provide L&L with the bowl or lid number found on the bottom of the container and tell them it was purchased from QVC. I did this a couple times and at that time they had good customer service. It all changed and now they are requiring more info or they won't do anything. I agree with you about the lifetime warranty being useless. Tabs breaking off is a common issue with L&L.

A lot of these warranties are useless.
I had a QVC Cooks essentials pressure just stop working in the middle of cooking something. It was almost a year old and only used a few times.
When I called about the warranty, I was told it only covered the non stick surface, not the electric component.
I have had Cook Essential cookware lose it's non stick surface, not scratched...just peeled off. When I called, I was told that was normal wear and tear.
I never buy anything for the warranty anymore.
I recently had a Keurig coffee maker stop working. I called their customer service dept and had a brand new unit two days later. I didn't even need to send the broken unit back. They just needed to know when and where it was purchased from.
When we get a new appliance, we put the date of purchase on the bottom...that helps.
I have thrown a lot of round lock and lock away. It is useless without the lid which broke. The square bottoms can be used in the pantry or closet to hold items without the lid. I will never buy any round lock and lock again.
It is made much thinner now and doesn't hold up like the original stuff.

I consider Lock n Lock to be a throwaway item now. They're not the same as they once were, although what is? In our current throwaway society, I think lifetime guarantees are things of the past. Also, so many people try to get over on these guarantees and make it difficult for honest purchasers. After my last LnL purchase, I probably won't be purchasing any more; they don't close properly, the plastic is so thin that it won't lock or hold a lock. Speaking of Tupperware, I received a Facebook invite for someone selling it, having her "party" on FB.

I use Lock n Lock every single day. Love them. They are a relatively inexpensive purchase so I would simply buy another set that included a piece that broke. It would cost the company more to mail you a piece than its worth. I only had one tab break because it fell out of the freezer. No big deal.

I stopped purchasing L&L years ago. The tabs just don’t last. They snap off. Reading posts here I’m not the only one with this problem. I am switching over to glass containers now. HSN has Anchor Hocking sets that I really like and have been purchasing.

I still use the L&L I bought in 2002. I've only had one tab break and that was when I took, a bowl out of the freezer and dropped it on a tile floor.
Of course the quality was better back then.

it would be nice if LNL was made in USA! i do not buy b/c of that reason.
Pyrex w/ lids are great
Rubbermaid Brilliance is AWESOME!! both made here!!
i will say my pyrex containers are getting old as far as the lids & they are starting to dry rot, they are over 10 years old and i do put them in the DW.

I had lids replaced when they first came out just by calling Lock N Lock with the number on it. Guess this all changed.....
