Just Some Constructive Feedback

QVC hosts are great! Talking for hours on end must be challenging .

But....,

Some of the hosts have some habits that are quite distracting and a bit frustrating to watch and cause me to change channels when I would much rather continue watching .

I don't mean to malign any particular host but right now I was trying to watch a Philosophy show, but the host keeps saying "Um" constantly.

Seriously, in nearly every sentence! It got to the point that I had to change the channel even though I was really interested in learning more about the products that were being presented and wanted to watch longer.

Other hosts:

"We'll get you all squared away."

"This is an extraordinary opportunity"

"Here's the thing..."

Going over obvious colors incessantly- "this is red, this is black," etc almost as if to

just fill up time. Really condescending!

"We're 'giving' you the large 40 oz size ..." - no one is 'giving'

us anything. We are PAYING for something that QVC is OFFERING us, not giving us.

That last one drives me crazy.

Thanks for letting me vent and offer my 2 cents.

@Luv2Watch.  I feel sure QVC will appreciate your pointing out discrepancies and will immediately initiate remedial training.

Maybe if they didn't spend 20 minutes on a simple item that can be described in 5 minutes some of the annoying habits would disappear.

I find it much easier just to check "recently on air" to see if there's anything of interest.  Can't imagine watching an entire hour.

Re: Just Some Constructive Feedback

I normally wouldn't comment on any host's presentation.  As you say, it must be challenging.

However, I will say that on a recent Quacker Factory show, a host drove me crazy.  Every single comment was "this is fun" to describe the different items.  "This is such a fun...(fill in the blank)"  "Oh, this is fun..."  "This color is such fun..."  "This fabric is so fun!"  You get the idea.

Had it been a drinking game, I wouldn't have lasted for even five minutes, it was that bad.  I thought surely she must have some other vocabulary to describe the various items?  Nope.  A whole hour of fun, fun, fun.

I muted the presentation and fast-forwarded.  And I didn't buy a single "fun" thing.

@Kachina624 - In some cases, I do think remedial training is warranted.

@Venezia.  When a host can advance on a camera and threaten customers, it's obvious QVC doesn't care what they say or do.

Interrupting the descriptions of the products just to go over colors is my pet peeve. It gets really annoying.

Huh ... good thread.

My pet peeve is how rarely the hosts bother to mention FABRIC CONTENT PERCENTAGES.

I don't want to hear "it's a cotton blend".  Blended with what, please?

I want the hosts to say "it's 55% cotton and 45% polyester" ... or whatever it is.

This isn't rocket science and the hosts should take a moment and tell us what we need to know to make an informed decision.  The silliness can come later if they need to fill time.

First things first.
