I try to avoid mean posts, but Josie's confusion of basic biological terms is disturbing to me, since millions of people are watching and no one corrects her.
She said last night the fair-skinned model doesn't have a lot of "melatonin" (instead of melanin) and you need a few drops of tanner for each "ligament" (instead of limb). Melatonin and ligaments are like melanin and limbs only in that they have to do with the human body and kind of sound alike; they are nowhere near synonyms for the correct phrases.
It's bad enough when she mispronounces the names of her own ingredients ("Arganosa spinosa," instead of "Argania spinosa"). Actually confusing pretty basic biological terms is just awful.

Yeah, I was embarrassed for her too. But then I was like, "Dear God, what if some women watching start to use those terms like her!" Ugh.

I like Josie but I must concur on this. She often uses the incorrect terminology and it makes me cringe a little. I know sometimes she likes to imply she is a part of the science behind the brand but I am afraid that is probably a bit of an exaggeration.

Yeah. I mean, it's quite possible Shawn didn't even know what Josie said was wrong (I think Shawn seems smart, but it's true she does have her ditzy moments where she mixes up words and/or concepts - There are different types of intelligence, after all).
And it would be kind of awkward to, like, air a public service announcement after the show reminding people of what Josie actually meant. So I guess there's not much they can do other than pre-emptively make sure she knows these words...Which also seems awkward, but I don't know what the solution is, then. Just needed to vent.

There's definitely all kind of smart , Josie is by no means a chemist by any stretch of the imagination. I think she knows what she wants and what she likes and will sell, but the science behind it, not so much. I think the Q figures most people won't pick up on her mistakes, so as long as the stuff sells, no harm.

She has always mispronounced words from the very beginning. Hard to respect her job as CEO of her own company.

It's probably too late now, but Josie might have considered doing what Jennifer Stallone did/does with Serious Skin Care with Lisa Stock and now her daughter CeCe. While not scientists, they explain the formulations, content, application in a more professional context. Paired with a partner who has some science training, Josie could handle the glamor aspect of the products.

That would be a good idea. Though Jennifer still makes some pretty ignorant statements (keeping your face clean will prevent you from getting acne, etc.)...
She also seems to have a more natural grasp on at least pronouncing scientific words and not mixing up the terms, though maybe that's because they really do teach her beforehand.

Yes but regardless, she is very successful and doing just fine.
