I'm not sure why QVC is celebrating October as Spanish Heritage month.
October has always been considered Italian Heritage Month.
The heritage month is in October to coincide with Columbus Day — the national holiday celebrated on the second Monday of the month. Italian-American Heritage Month celebrates the distinguished cultural contributions of Americans with Italian lineage.

I may be one of the few but I find "celebrating" a certain heritage, race, gender, etc. is excluding others. I just don't understand a month of honoring or celebrating a certain "person".
We should celebrate every race, gender, religion, etc. every day. No matter what is chosen to celebrate for the month, there are more people being excluded. There is so much diversity that cannot all be celebrated in 12 months.
Anyway, I never pay attention to what month it is and who is being celebrated. We need to embrace everyone in our own way. I think it is just a selling tactic to draw people in that follow this. Again, my opinion only.

They are only interested in bringing in " new customers ", so they want the growing Hispanic customer market .

@cjm61 I agree 100 percent. No reason to pick out certain groups. We are all here, we all came from somewhere else, nobody is original to here. We every one as special as everyone else. Otherwise we're just shifting prejudice.

With the exception of the Native Americans.

@CAPMLP. I think we no longer celebrate Columbus Day. It's now Indigenous People Day, which happens to be next Monday.
When do we celebrate Celtic and Nordic Peoples?

@National Hispanic Heritage Month Sept15-Oct. 15. Since1988. Prior to that it was a week.
Very big in MiamiDade Public Schools.
Little recognition for Columbus Day, now Indigenous People' Day. No school day off hereor parade like in NYC!

@spumoni99 Nope. They came here across the land bridge. They are like all of us.

Here is a great explanation:
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.
The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.
After working on Ancestry to determine my heritage, I found all sorts of interesting things I did not realize.
I would think many people possibly headed to Italy generations ago from so called "Spanish" areas along with many other locations.
