At the risk of being labeled a party pooper, I really am uncomfortable with the adult beverage props.  I used to like the Friday evening shows, but then it became Friyays and everyone had a wine glass and everything was super cool.  Then the wine glasses migrated to other shows, and there are often comments that involve drinking.  Is QVC not aware that substance abuse is an enormous problem in this country?  It's offensive to intimate that even shopping is enhanced by consuming alcohol.  Why not just pop a cold one or pour something over the rocks?  Is that why the hosts have giggling fits and shout over each other and their guests?

Re: It's 5 0'clock Somewhere?

I think the hosts can have giggling fits and act silly at any time of the day.

If they take the show in a more adult direction after 5 pm, it doesn't bother me.  Of course, I shop off the website, no matter the time of day...

@blacklablover  I so agree with you, it is so unprofessional.  Nothing wrong with a glass of wine but there is a time and place for it and the workplace is not where it should be. As for the Fri-YAY! can't stand that either at least some of the host have to get so hyper and jump up and down and constantly repeated FRI-YAY!!! like a child getting a second cookie.

Q sells wine...bottled, canned & freezer pops so that's why it's on air. I don't drink but seeing hosts hold a wine glass doesn't bother me.

I just glad it's not for every show.

I don't drink but it doesn't bother me to see hosts holding a glass of wine.  Social drinking such as wine or a drink or two on occasion is not the same as substance abuse.  Prohibition didn't work - only caused more criminal activity and holding a glass of wine on TV sure doesn't promote alcoholism.

It's a gimmick to get customers to relate to the host on-air, then order the item being hawked.

Most of the hosts are acting so flighty, nattering and blathering, overtalking each other, giggling, bouncing around, flapping their hands, on and on..  They surely are not drinking alcohol on air; I believe that.  However, they act like they are at a frat party way too often.  It's unattractive behavior in my eyes; I guess from some responses here, others must feel the same way.

I don't watch for many reasons and the hosts "drinking" wine is certainly NOT one of them.  As a previous poster said, Prohibition caused more problems than it solved and many people, including myself, enjoy wine without becoming addicted to it.
