I was able to watch only the show on QVC2 last night, but I enjoyed it. I liked the little bits of information about the city itself.
I was thinking it would be a good idea if there had been a local cookbook author on selling his/her cookbook, and preparing some of the dishes. I think Meredith is great, and I enjoy watching her demonstrate anything. Maybe she could be selling an item and the local cookbook author could be helping her by using recipes from the cookbook (with David tasting of course!) ?

I just didn't see the point of showing the same old, same old but in a different location.

I watched about half the show and was thinking the same thing -- maybe more focus on the area...cookbook, chef, wines, candy etc. I also thought David seemed a bit off -- the cool wind making things fly around and the sun setting. Did not see the same happy, loud responses from his audience that he normally gets in the studio....

I thought exactly the same thing @corita, I was disappointed in the show. David definitely seemed flustered by the winds, sun and kept telling the vendors to move, thinking the TV audience couldn't see the products. Someone finally told him the shots were fine and he apologized, but he seemed off his game last night. I ended up turning it off.

@Sueliz I watched about half the show as well. I thought David did as best he could, but he did seemed flustered sometimes trying to manipulate the items for the best light (which wasn't even necessary because as you said, the viewers could see everything just fine). I thought it was about to get really testy when that vendor with the oil sprayer said to David, "I feel like a puppet," after David kept telling him to move the pan several times. David was quiet for a long time after that. ![]()
I enjoyed learning more about San Francisco, I had never heard of Pier 39, or the seals that make their home there, etc. The woman who won the sweepstakes and her daughter were very sweet and thrilled to meet David. Other than that, QVC sure went a long way to show the same ol' products.

@Caaareful Shopper I loved the seals and seeing the different sections of the city too. I forgot about that part with the spray bottle vendor! I agree with you, I think David and everyone did the best they could. ![]()

In a studio, everything is controlled.
Last night, they weren't.
It isn't easy to contend with chilly wind, sunlight, as opposed to set lights, and the sound quality not being like it is in a studio.
When they would show the audience, you would notice that most of them were bundled up in coats and jackets.
I think David did the best that he could under the circumstances, and I watched the full 2 hours.
