I have used the qvc app ever since it came to be and have never been hacked! I only use the website if I happen to be on my laptop computer. I find the app very easy to navigate and much faster than waiting for an operator to take an order.
I imagine one day there will be no phoning in to place an order. I think there are many senior citizen aged viewers who still phone in an order and phone lines get jammed. This is why they are always saying phone lines are busy so tap the app or go on qvc.com. I think there will come a day when there is no ordering by phone.

With the app your order goes in faster. They have to pay those phone operators for taking your order; no operators needed for people using the app.

I never call QVC to order. I use my computer. Very fast.
For those saying you can get notifications, a company can send notifications a lot by email. You notice how if you buy anything whether a service or clothing, anything, the next thing you know you are getting several emails every day usually with a discount for your next order. I usually unsubscribe.
The only time I've been tempted to use an app is with 2 fast food chains that give you free stuff but then I think I don't go often enough and I don't like complicating or adding on things, one more thing and I don't like keeping a cc in there either. Just more reasons not to for me anyway.
So, a company must have a huge advantage to them with these apps, maybe a more intense, more consistant connection to their customer than just a website.
I get the advantages people say to them but I get the same notifications and special discounts with emails so I don't see a huge difference.
I guess just a supposed more streamlined way to buy things, but not always if you have to update, sign in with some etc. I can bookmark a website if I want so I can just click on it too.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
I know my kids use apps all the time.
I'm content being mostly a dinosaur lol!

You can order easily from QVCs website too. I never call and have someone place my order for me.

Here's why I think retailers want you on their app. When you are shopping on your lap or desk top, the activity is prompted by you when you have time. You search and then perhaps purchase and go about your day.
Since many people look at their their iPhone constantly for text or emails, there is a higher chance you will respond to a quick or impulsive purchase. The Q can prompt you to purchase 24/7 because people tend to look at their phones 24/7. The more the Q has your attention, the more you are likely to buy " something you can't live without."

I don't care for apps as they use my iPhone's memory that I'm paying for.
I just don't download a company's app. I go straight to the website and like it much better on my laptop.
It's not mandatory to download a company's app.

I can instantly see emails or even texts with some companies I've bought from on my phone too so I still don't see the difference in notifications with an app.
I guess there must be what companies consider as much as an advantage to them or what they think is an advantage to keep pushing their app. Maybe the fact that there is an app on the phone people have there all the time staring them in the face, induces them to buy. It might be for people who do buy often from that company and whether they were intending to or spontaneously at times.
Maybe that is one of the differences in using apps or just the website; how often you buy from them.

@PalmBeach I believe business wants you to use an APP is to keep track of you. The APP collects a feast of info. Your interests, location, usage, etc. this all info a business can use for marketing. I have an I Pad, I love it. An app works okay I have a few like crosswords, , etc. but on my phone the App is a mess for me. Also, some things aren't available on QVC APP as well. I don't know how people even post here on the QVC app, lol they are a better woman than I am for sure. I just can't make it work well.

I hate most retailers' apps. I tried several over the years and ended up deleting them. I won't download or use them.
