No, it's not that you're watching too much QVC @sarahpanda  It’s that when you watch it long enough you start to really listen and catch on.

The host want to sell. Their job depends on it. They have a story for everything too. They try to cover every angle.

Alberti was selling a shirt that had a plaid print. So, of course he said the small print looks good on everyone. He then said he just bought a shirt with a big bold plaid, and it made him look heavier, so he will never wear it.

They have a phrase, favorite word, and story for everything.

I don't like their overuse of "literally" either. Most of the time, it's a misuse, showing they don't understand its meaning.  Lisa Robertson was the worst offender.

If we throw vendors into the mix, Josie Maran beats them all.

Re: Hosts use the word "literally" over and over in every presentation.

I can only imagine the crazy things that would come out of my mouth trying to eat up time, if I had to talk two hours (or more) nonstop, about items that could be fully described in fifteen minutes, or less.

Hosts 'literally' embrace sayings they are comfortable with, that they keep repeating for those who only tune in briefly for certain items. For those watching for the duration, that's when it becomes more noticeable and annoying.

Even in my own work, I had comments and instructions that were common to my interactions. You can't constantly recreate the wheel to deliver the message. I cut the hosts some slack for being -- human. Hosting isn't an easy job.

@layla2450  I don't watch those two.  I think CG and one other are the queens of "um" and "ah."  I turn the channel at the first "ah"!

The other wording that is so overused by many hosts is - 'I can't'!

What in heavens name does that mean?  I can't breath, I can't see, I can't smell, etc etc.  Such an absurd, unnecessary  phrase....

Now that Jill Bauer is gone I don't have e to hear busy mom all the time. That would drive me crazy.
