Why can't viewers love a particular host? I don't think the callers get that much air time to describe it as childish and disgusting....IMO although I am often sad when I hear elderly woman claiming they bought every color, blah blah makes me worried for their finances, sometimes seems predatory....
Using the word LOVE for a television salesman is beyond silly. I love God, my country, my family, a few close friends and my Sheltie. But to say I LOVE someone I don't really know, will never meet, and whose only interest in me is that I buy something from them is beyond childish and disgusting - rather pathetic really. I enjoy some of them, even "like" a few. But do I love them . . . . heck NO.

I agree that it's an annoying sales tactic. When I hear them say that, I always imagine a producer behind the scenes telling them to say it. They must have evidence that sales increase when they do it.

There are some hosts who claim they aren't allowed to order new items before they are presented on air. Then there are the hosts who claim to have ordered new items before their show.
Not sure which it is nor do I really care but they should all get their stories straight. LOL

@Lipstickdiva, I agree. There was one host that had no problem calling out to someone to order for her. It is confusing when they say they aren't allowed but have the other claims.. Go Figure..

I feel the Q employees should not have first go at products on sales. Although the sales are pitiful, the customers should have first chance to buy, not after employees have picked over. That seems fair to me, although I personally don't care b/c the sales are shabby.

From what I understand the hosts are not allowed to pre-order items they have up for sale. They are allowed to order the item while the item is on air, therefore giving the hosts and the public "fairness" in being able to order. I have no problem with this at all.
The only thing I would mention is that the hosts know in advance what is coming up in their show and I'm sure they can tell their producer they would like them to order one or two items while the item is on the air. THAT is far and away more preferable than yellling to whomever is monitoring the show that they'd love to order such and such.
Jacqui did that yesterday during the Bob Mackie show. She was wearing a gorgeous sparkle holiday-type jacket and wanted one of each color and made it known she was doing this, how much she loved it, was getting one in the silver and the gold, yadda yadda....
Whether or not this is a sales ploy (I think it is some of the time).... the hosts should be discreet about ordering during their shows. It's just more professional.....

While I agree with you 100%, most use the word cavalierly ... as in "loving" chocolate, "love their car".... "love the weather"...... rather than "being" in love with whatever they're talking about. I actually find tossing the word cavalierly to have placed the definition into more than one category.....

I agree. English is the most difficult language in the world for non-English speaking people to learn, because we we have so many different ways of using our words that are outside their standard textbook definitions. It seems trivial to argue about the use of the word "love" when it is used so frequently in so many different scenarios to show enthusiasm about people or things.

DOESN,t bother me, but years ago I remember LR saying , I hope my size Ian,t gone after the show, so I can order. They were not allowed to order on air in present time of show.
