Hosts inflating store prices

In the last 15 minutes, the hostess announced that 1 poo pouri in the store was the same price as their 3 items. I looked up the 100 (largest) and the most I found was $9.95.... note 24. change.

I thought the FCC came after shopping shows that did this. Now, do you think I am ever going to believe anything this host says. Absolutely not. Where are the executives that are to watch out for mistakes.

Last week one host said to buy a lug purse because the confetti lining would make you feel like you are at party.  ODD, sad  but not misrepresenting the product.

I doubt if the host came up with that price comparison on her own.

That confetti/party comment was just stupid.  Do they really think people would buy something based on that?

Yes, purse linings can be pretty boring.  But one with a confetti pattern?  It's party time!!!  Smiley Happy

Maybe the hostess saw it in a boutique in the Hamptons that doesn't have a website.

Edit to add:

The FCC won't investigate. It's the FTC that will, and only if you file a complaint with them.

@Imaoldhippie What do you suggest we all do just limit conversation to covid-19? Having other thoughts does not minimize the virus if that is what you are worried about.

@ConsumReporter If you really pay attention to what the hosts say it is downright ridiculous most of the time.

Depends what store the host was shopping in.  Just because the host says the price is good, doesn't get me to buy the item.

Re: Hosts inflating store prices

Remember the prices they generally quote are MSRP- (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price)Very few retailers charge full MSRP (under normal circumstances)

Most retailers mark down for the MSRP- nothing illegal about using MSRP as a guide -it is standard in almost every industry..

The hosts have always done this.  I always compare prices before searching.  QVC almost never has the best price.  Other places have a better price and also have free shipping and returns.  I always receive my purchases faster from other places, too.  It amazes me that everyone doesn't compare prices before purchasing.
