Hearts and thumbs are not the same

Giving a thumbs up is not the same as giving a heart.

I do not like seeing the heart I thought I was giving change to a thumbs up.  It completely changes the intent and the meaning.

If we are giving thumbs up, then please change the icon.  If not, then please keep the heart.

Better yet, provide both options.

Thank you.

Re: Hearts and thumbs are not the same

even though you click on the heart and it shows up to you as a thumbs up, it still shows a heart when you go back and look at the post.

@GingerPeach  I agree with you.  To me the hearts feel more personal.  People here reveal a lot of personal information about themselves.  Seems rather cold to give them a 'thumbs up' rather than a heart.

@sunshine45, If I go back to re-read the thread, all the ones I "hearted" still have the odd thumbs up icon (of which I am not a fan).   If you see the red heart, it means you clicked too many times on the heart and inadvertently "un-hearted" the post.   This new feature makes it entirely too easy to "un-heart" without intending to do so, in my opinion.

I imagine the thumb is a glitch related to the others that they're trying to fix.  Just hang in there and hopefully it'll go away.

I suspect you're right, @Kachina624.   One of the posts from the Q Team indicated they didn't even expect to see this new "thumbs up" feature popping up...  and I, too, think it's not going to be a permanent fixture.

how are you viewing the forums @dooBdoo?

when i go back to the thread all i see are hearts.....no thumbs up on any post.

the only time i see the thumbs up is when i initially click the post i am "hearting."

i am using firefox on a laptop.

OOPS.....i stand corrected.....i hearted your post, went back to the thread, and now see a thumbs up. i do believe there is another thread about this and one of the mods said it would be fixed within a week or so.

Yes, they're aware of the problems and evidently won't be correcting anything until after the weekend.    Here's the announcement in the "Customer Care" forum.

Thread:  "Function issues in the forums"

Re: Hearts and thumbs are not the same

I wondered what the thumbs up thing was all about.  I figured I missed something again and had no idea had to fix it!  LOL.  Glad to know it's not anything that I am doing.
