Free Shipping Offered By Other Retailers

I have noticed that so many retailers like L. L Bean, Cheryl's Cookies, and Amazon offer free shipping, often without a minimum.

I have to say that I often don't buy items from QVC even if I think the initial price is good b/c once you add in the S&H, you add another $7 or more to the price. An item under $30 really takes a hit with S&H.

Anyone else who shares this sentiment? I am surprised the Q doesn't offer more free shipping on gift items. On food, S&H is included but I think that is b/c they don't want you to realize how much you are paying to ship the product.
