I totally agree with you. I always print out my statement and the proof of payment. I get my CC bill because I check each charge to make sure I charged it. But, I do pay that bill on line.
Here's the thing, you can't assume everyone has a computer. I have a cousin who does not own a computer and pays some of her bills by going to the place to pay them. Most of them she writes a check and mails them.
Too many people assume things that just are not right with everyone. I don't have a cell phone and don't ever want one because of all the people I see everywhere with their noses in them. I'm sorry but I believe in speaking to people face to face. That's how I was taught.
If they are on this board they are on an electronic device.
Doesn't mean they use email.

Some people don't know how to use a computer or are afraid to try paying online. I don't know why but some people are just oldschool and will not change. I have a friend who goes into stores to pay her bills in person. I am surprised stores allow lthat but they do.
I pay all my bills online, but I do get paper statements because having the paper is a better reminder for me to pay it. I get so many emails, I don't trust I will see a bill via email and it will get lost in the sea of emails.
Totally agree with emil statement. My neighbor has been spending 3-4 hrs / day trying to locate all her emails. Some are sent to trash, some to junk and others she never receives. Geek squad has had no success with fixing this over the past year. She refuses to change her email address beacuse "so many people will be unable to contct her"

@wilma wrote:I switched to electronic billing for my QCard to avoid the $1.99 paper bill fee. I pay off my balances each month so the 34% interest rate won't affect me, but when I told my husband he thought that rate was absolutely ridiculous. I probably won't use my Qcard anymore because I don't pay bills electronically.
My husband and I are in our 60s. We are electronically savvy, but we still prefer paper bills amd checks and USPS. The main reason is my husband is wary of hackers and thieves getting access to our banking accounts and personal information online. There have been too many instances of that happening,
The old fashioned way has dangers too, but so far we haven't had any problems. We use gel pens which prevent check washing. Two of our bills can be paid inside a local bank branch. We take our bills that need to be mailed inside the post office instead of using the boxes outside which have been broken into numerous times. Our local post office removed most of their outside drop'offs.
Change to a CC that gives cash back for purchase. Adds up quickly. Synchrony doesn't do this. I use Amazon or Costco Visa.

What does one do with all the paper bill statements? Keep them for years?
Shred after a few months at your choice I find the paper trail takes less time than looking for things on computer. People actually believe that doing things on compter save timme. But it actually takes more time especially when your emails won' t open or your internet is acting up. False sense of security. Just shows how easily and well propaganda works.

@luvmybeetle - It's good to have a cell phone in the event of an emergency. If you drive, and you get into an accident, what if no one is around to call an ambulance or police?
What did humans do for centuries without a cell phone? They survived or you wouldn't be here.

I have been with the same bank for several years. I have NEVER paid for the duplicate checks I use. Mailing a check costs 68 cents - NOT a big deal.
Postage is raising to .73 July 14, 2024
So what. I Only mail 1-2 thing per YEAR

I save many of my paper credit card statements for 7 years because there are proof of purchases of donations and business expenses to back up my taxes.
Good thinking. Some companies only have records available for 2 yrs or less. Learned this when IRS was questioning one of my tax returns for 3 years before. Thank goodness I had the paper documtation to back up everything. Also learned that banks charge an outrageous fee for processed checks that over 2 years old.

The painter, gardener and housekeeper like to get paid with cash app.
Not mine. They refuse anything electronic. They have no bank accounts

I prefer paying online.Mail would be slow sometimes and cause me a late fee, so started paying online. No more paper
I created a new yahoo email for bills only. Great reminders
I keep a list of the dates my bills are due and mark on my calender. Mine are always the same date every month, so that is super easy.
When it's time to pay bills I'll get online, open statement to make sure everything looks good and pay.
Everyone is different, but this works for me

No, by check. They don't carry a debit machine with them.
Cash App payment takes the money from your checking account and deposits it directly to their checking account. They don't have to wait to deposit your check into their checking account @Nonametoday .
