I totally agree with you. I think the new responders on these posts purposely annoy people by over quoting. It's not necessary and it wasn't this way in the past. Perhaps they have an ulterior motive in doing this but I can't guess it. It just elongates the thread unnecessarily and confuses the older responders who aren't used to it, so my advice is have some respect for the other people who use these forums and stop this nonsense.

If we are seriously following the thread, we've read it all anyway. Why bore us with requoting the whole long post? Quote the sentences to which you are referring and let the rest go. That's how some of these fights get started, people are taking issue with the wrong point.

I'd like to see a ""like"" (or agree) button so a quote doesn't have to be copied to support an opinion.

This board really does have the worst quoting feature I've ever seen. Like a lot of you, once it is quote upon quote upon quote I'm out. I go blind trying to decipher which person is saying what.

But, I don't think they really have a high priority on how this board is put together or run, so I have long ago learned to just brush it off.

Besides, how many people here have been around when they have done some of their 'improvements'? Every time they 'fix' something it gets worse. Best they leave it alone. There are a lot of internet newbies who are drawn to this board so we see more stuff that we wouldn't see anywhere else. Usually, people will just cut back to the one thing or couple of things they are referencing when they quote. But not here! The silly website makes that just worse than it even needs to be.

Frequently it seems that the really, really long quotes end up being two posters arguing with each other. (You said this, then you said this, etc.); this occurs often on Viewpoints I've noticed.

By then, most of us others have left them alone to duke it out and move on to a newer topic.

Yes, I hate the way it's illustrated with the lines. I can't figure out who said what. LOL.
