Dan Hughes and the TSV

[ Edited ]

Please allow the TSV rep to talk about his product.   Interjecting with irrelevant stories takes away from product detail.   We want to know about the product please.  I just can't watch Dan.  His guests are so gracious.

It's not just QVC that's doing this.  I watch a lot of news (channels) and host invite a guest with much knowledge & information...........but the host just take over not allowing guest to speak much.  Looks like host just wants a warm body standing next to them.  Get so frustrated I just change the channel.

@Lig Lady Maybe its because you just don't like him.  I watched the video on-line and thought the presentation was well balanced between host and guest.

I think Dan Hughes is one of the best hosts on the Q.  He does a tremendous amount of homework before each show, and can always relate its use to a very practical situation.  If he skipped colors one time, it was certainly not usual for him.  I watch his shows and he's more than thorough, with colors and all aspects of the products.

Yes, he tells corny jokes, and seems to have a 20-year friendship with all the vendors.  He also does a great job hosting.

Is he the one that can’t dress himself and claims the wife has to?

@San Antonio Gal.  Yes, because he is color blind and doesn't want to leave the house looking like a clown.

The hosts are hired to bring us the practical information on the products (size, color, battery life, accessories etc.), but they are hired to do much more.

They are hired to SELL.

One way that this is effective, is to get the viewers to know, them, like them, find them relateable, and familiar. To do so, many hosts share their personal experiences and lives on air.

If this bothers a viewer, they are probably more suited to viewing online and the short videos on a products, and not watch full hour shows, where hosts are going to bring more to the table than just the facts.

I have to say, the use of hosts in the familiar friend next door format seems to be working for them. Enough people are still tuning in, watching and buying. I get it isn't for everyone, or certain hosts,  certain people just don't care for, but the overall the formula is still working for them.

As stated many times on different forums, some of the hosts make their presentation more about themselves than the product.  I agree with your statement about online viewing as opposed to watching a full hour show.  I used to watch the shows, but now I'm more of an online shopper because I'm more interested in the product.
