DSLR Cameras

I'm researching DSLR cameras since I need a new one and rather get a real good one. Does anyone own one of these cameras and which brand do you suggest? Any suggestions, ideas, comments will be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Fuji which takes very good pictures but I rarely use it because it's so big it's a burden to have it handy for photos. My simple Panasonic I can keep in the console, my handbag or a pocket and the pictures are also very good. I'd never get another SLR type of camera for my use.
