Create a separate category for toys

My suggestion of the day is that a separate category be created for toys on the QVC website. Currently, they are in a subcategory of "For the Home," which makes some sense, but I think it would be much easier to shop for both the home-related and toy items if they were completely separated.

This distinction is especially helpful when holiday products are added to the website, as it is frustrating to go looking for new home decor only to end up scrolling past dozens of stuffed animals, remote control cars, and such. You can easily navigate to the toys subcategory if that's what you want, but if you're really seeking "for the home" items, you have to choose specific subcategories rather than having the option of easily viewing all the holiday decorating and furniture items in the main category.

Moderators, if you could pass along this suggestion, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Create a separate category for toys

@loriqvcI'm sure all the categories make sense, but as many times as I'm here, virtually the only time I even glance at that long list to the left of the posts is when I want to post a new topic.

@kitcat51 - If you read my post, you'll see that I realize toys are easy to find; what I am suggesting is that they be moved out of the For the Home category because they don't belong with all the other products there and make it more difficult to navigate the full category listings to browse non-toy items.

Re: Create a separate category for toys

@millieshops - As specified in my post, I'm talking about products on the QVC website, not categories here in the forums.

Re: Create a separate category for toys

@loriqvcgotcha-  that sounds sensible although I know nothing about modern computer programming and the capacities and costs of various programs.

One other consideration -  if toys become a separate category, someone like me would never see them but if they're subsumed into the kinds of items I actually look at occasionally, I might get a glance here and there.    In addition to my not knowing the technical programming, I also have never read more than a bit about how programmers get us to look at things we really never intended to look at but I suspect that's done thousands of times a day!

Re: Create a separate category for toys

@millieshops - Because toys already have their own subcategory, it would be very easy to move them up a level to be their own separate category. And all online retailers want to make it simple for customers to shop (despite some of the oddities of qvc.com that may make us think otherwise), so it makes sense to organize websites in a way that directs people to what they're looking for.

Sorry, I misread your post...I don't see your suggestion happening.

Great suggestion. I hope they do this. Scrolling through a thousand toys to see other items is a pain as is shopping for toys and seeing wreaths or other holiday.

Re: Create a separate category for toys

Excellent idea. When I look at Christmas items, I wish I could filter out just the toys.
