Re: Butchering language

[ Edited ]

It seems that the powers-that-be in QVC marketing have reverted to the old standby. Anything French is classy, of high quality, sophisticated, and beautiful. Of all foreign languages used, French is the one we hear most often in QVC presentations.

It should be possible to hire a high school French teacher, who can teach hosts how to pronounce the most commonly used presentation words. I’m a Francophile, so hearing the mispronounced words is like nails on a blackboard. Ironically, those ridiculous- sounding words yield the opposite results. Instead of classy and beautiful, the presentation becomes silly and amateurish.
