Please answer, in clear, simple words, with diagrams or screenshots if necessary, the following things:

Where are the old categories - for example, BE forum, Beauty Banter, etc? How does one set up the page so that one can find those forums?

What do the questions in the My Preferences mean? What do you mean by Linear, for example?

What if one does not want to heart, or tag, or get emails from the forum, but just wants to be able to go to the forums of interest, and talk with friends and other forum members?

Rather than a list of question after question, here's a thought. Quote the question, answer it. Go to the next one, repeat.

Sorry to sound cranky, but this whole change has made it very difficult to find anything, and it's a hot mess.

And one more thing. I don't want notifications. If someone replies to my post, that's super, but lord, don't go telling me that someone hearted it! Please tell me how to make that stop.

My question is very minor compared to many others:  Why are the avatars different shapes and sizes? Some are round, some are oval (mine) and others are square or rectangular. Can I change my shape to round if I wish?

All the repetition makes scrolling through replies longer and harder.

One thing that makes this format confusing is that the initial topic is the first post. It is not at the top of the page and segregated from the replies to it. In many of the lengthy strings I think it is useful to have the OP's comment at the top and separated from the replies. If you did this then it would be unnecessary to place the subject of the thread over top of each reply, which simply wastes space.

I'll give this a shot. 

A macro is a series of words you use on a regular basis, but would prefer not to have to type every time.  For example, let's say that most times you like to add the words "have a nice day" to the end of your posts.  I went to my preferences, to the macro tab, and created one that I named/titled "HAGD," and I typed the words "have a great day" in the box below. 

Whenever I want to end my post with those words, I click on the macros dropdown box (next to the word "quote" in upper right hand corner) and pick the HAGD one.

Like I did here...
