As Is Items Cost More Than Clearance Items!

[ Edited ]

Suggestion:   When an item gets reduced (such as the one below that just went on sale today for Monday's Just Reduced Clearance) QVC needs to reduce its As Is price on it also.   Because I've seen many items that are for sale As Is at more than the sale price!

This also happens frequently when an item goes on lunchtime special - it's much cheaper than the As Is price.   See below as just one example - a brand new one on clearance is less than an As Is one!  That isn't right for the poor customer who buys it As Is:

For example, Just Reduced Clearance puts this new item at $42.92. A269955

However, it's also on As Is for $53.00. A280174

Why would I want to buy a "used" one that could have "issues" when I can get a brand new one for over $10 less?

I have seen this before - this isn't the only item.

Somewhat on this topic, I ordered a pair of earrings at FULL PRICE and when they arrived, they had a sticker on the white cardboard wrapper that went around the box marked AS IS.

I do NOT appreciated paying full price for an AS IS return.

Is this something new? QVC is less and less the venerable, trustworthy, exemplary compay it once was.

@gardensla I would definitely ask for or DEMAND a price adjustment (on principle for sure).  That is so annoying and unprofessional.

Re: As Is Items Cost More Than Clearance Items!

I only started shopping here a little over a year ago. I have bought alot of jewelry. I want to tell you my experience.

I ordered an "as is" diamond ring which arrived with a big stone missing. I ordered a "new" diamond ring which came with a stone missing.

I ordered the diamond angel wing earrings "new" which arrived with one lovely earring and one dirty and tarnished.

I ordered the B Bixby grasshopper charm which was on a temporary reduction and it arrived with areas covered in that blue-green corrosion stuff. I am serious.

I ordered a "new" DMQ tennis bracelet that arrived scratched with a broken clasp.

That is enough. I think you get the picture. My point is, I don't think the labels - new, as is, whatever - mean anything. It is a gamble all around.

A few weeks ago, while watchiing a clearance jewelry show, the host said that clearance was "first quality." She said that "this is not somebody's return, we don't do that." I could not beleive my ears because clearly they do, without even checking the return first.

Re: As Is Items Cost More Than Clearance Items!

@Noreen  I understand your point certainly and, being a very, very longtime customer here, I have those experiences too..  But the point I'm trying to make to QVC is the ridiculousness of the pricing of a clearly stated As Is item costing more than a new clearance item.   For now, that's all I'm trying to "fix" in this Suggestion Forum.

What's wrong with fixing both? Both are important issues and point to quality and control.

@Karlakaye

I did email and was told that the item had never been offered "As Is" despite the "As Is" label of which I sent them a picture. Their remedy is to send it back for a "full refund". When I pushed back harder, they agreed to refund shipping both ways. I was not offered a reduced price as an option because there's not "As Is' pricing in the system. The rep really was very good and did what she could with the tools offered here.

That said, it' just not the same QVC that we came to love, respect and trust even 5 years ago.

You have to thoroughly check the price on as is items before buying.  Sometimes there is a couple dollars difference than the regular item.

Hey!  Someone saw and did something about my suggestion!  Another $20 off the As Is item - A280174 now $33.   Amazing - someone listened!  I hope they pay attention to all the As Is items so none are costlier than the same clearance-priced item.  Yay, I got results!
