Advanced Sale Check Nightmare

I purchased an advanced sale bracelet that was to be shipped in two months. I selected the pay by check option, sent in my check, and the check was cashed. After watching a few presentations of advanced sale items, I started to get nervous about my purchase because it said an advanced sale needs to go on a credit card.

I called CS and was told to not worry because the money was received and that I would get my item when it was available. A few weeks later, the amount was taken from one of my credit cards on file. I was confused and again called CS. They told me that it was their error. They corrected the credit card debit, and I was again assured that I would receive my item because I had already paid by check.

When the item was finally ready to be shipped, I got a notice to contact CS. The CS representative told me that she was not able to send my advanced sale item because I had paid by check. I started to grow very frustrated and explained that I had called two different times about this issue. She told me that she called corporate and would not send me my item unless I put it on a credit card. I explained that I already paid. She told me that they would send me a refund of what I had paid by check.

I then spoke to a manager who then said to me “what do you want me to do?” I told him that I wanted my item. He said Okay.

Two weeks later, I got the check and no item.

Wow, was I mad! I was so tired after this situation that this is my first correspondence about the situation. Hopefully, I will help someone from making the same mistake. But, was it really my mistake? I tried on two different occasions to correct it.

I've never paid by check, but that sure is weird. What's the difference how you paid, you did and should get your item.

Is the item still available? If it is and you still want it, maybe you should write to their Corporate Office. You would send a letter to QVC Customer Relations, 1200 Wilson Drive, West Chester PA 19380. Make sure you put Customer RELATIONS, and not Customer Service. When I had some problems with QVC, I wrote to them and received a phone call in return. To me it's ridiculous if your check was cashed, and you could prove it cleared your bank, why on earth they would not send you your bracelet. That kind of thing would bother me so much I would have to take it further. Good luck with it!

Obviously they can't handle this situation, i.e. a check for an advanced sale item. If nothing else, you have learned not to do it again. You have my sympathy, what a disappointment. They should just get rid of check pay completely. You explained this well in your post, I would print that out and send it in to Customer Relations.

Re: Advanced Sale Check Nightmare

Messy, but interesting. I do often choose to buy something on advanced order, but I since I virtually always pay by credit card I think I haven't listened carefully to the Advanced Order pitches. I do know that we have to use credit (I know nothing about debit, so maybe that, too) to get EZPay and that makes sense to me.

I wouldn't pay for an Advanced Order by check even if I could. They don't charge until the item ships. Right now with interest rates low, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference, but I don't need to get in the habit of paying before I have to- what a mess that would make if you change your mind while you're waiting.

I would never pay by check. Too many things can go wrong. OP, you need to get at least one credit card.
