Love watching the Kentucky Derby, but always pray none of the horses are hurt.

Yes, injured horses are often put down.

Well, that was different. The first time a Derby winner got disqualified. Kind of interesting.

Horses can't get along on three legs.  No matter if it is racing or whatever, it is the kindest thing to do.  They stand most of the time, their digestive system doesn't work if they lay down, so any kind of break or other disabling  leg injury you really can't fix.
