My sister was in shock the Giants won after a missed FG and a Daniel Jones INT....she said its her new lucky shirt and Barkley that made the difference.....

I kinda like how the NFC East looks after one game.....hope it continues on this same trend...

@gardenman

Even with the mistakes Washington made in this game and the "stink/dink" philosophy we still scored 28 points--we need to find ways to get Dotson more involved and more plays -to open Terry up....I hope that continues but the defense needs to make some adjustments the Jags moved too easily down the field...

DAK WILL MISS 6 to 8 WEEKS!. There's Cam Newton??? 😫 Trade options are limited to the likes of Mason Rudolph and maybe Gardner Minshew — but why would the Eagles (who know as well as anyone the value of a great backup quarterback) trade their No. 2, to Dallas of all places?

As one NFL fan said, "DAKS ALL FOLKS!"

I wonder whats in McCarthy's contract that the Cowboys have to go through all these extra ordinary circumstances to get McCarthy fired!!---???!!!!???? Texas is an "at will" termination state for a company's employees too......

I dont think Jerry would want to pay a fortune for Jimmy G......and it looks like the 49ers might decide to use him afterall as their starter after seeing Lance play........

Things are going down hill fast for the Cowboys. And a lot of it is self inflicted they couldve made better plans and put some strategies in place for the season...as some in the sports media pointed out afterall Dak is always getting banged up so youd think they wouldve gotten a decent backup long ago....And our local sports guys here were laughing at Jerry Jones press conference where he said...."sometimes you gotta hope 1 + 1= 3"....and added, "at least we are being talked about".......🤣🤣🙄

Re: Week One of the 2022 NFL Regular Season!!!

@Spurt   I was listening to my favorite local sports radio station here in DFW and they were speculating that Dak's injury may have him out of the game for as much as 10-12 weeks. Oh sure, the team is saying publicly it's 6-8 weeks BUT the injury is such that gaining strength and range of motion in the thumb takes longer. Maybe Dak will heal quickly and with professional rehabilitation/training experts on hand (no pun intended) he will come back in 8.

But the Cowboys' season is dunzo IMHO. So is Mike McCarthy. 1+1 = 0.

@gardenman  I agree -- I'm over Carrie screeching and strutting on the MNF opener. It is time for someone new!

Re: Week One of the 2022 NFL Regular Season!!!

Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett tore his ACL in a noncontact injury in yesterday's game and is out for the year. The Eagles have Australian Matt Leo on the practice squad who might get called up, or they could poach someone off another practice squad. For now, Tarron Johnson who was inactive yesterday will fill the role.

Re: Week One of the 2022 NFL Regular Season!!!

Rivera was concerned with the amount of snaps starters Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne got, and signed Efe Obada and re-signed Daniel Wise. Rookie Mathis was placed on IR with torn meniscus that will require season ending surgery, and the team signed DT Donovan Jeter.

Wes Schweitzer(hamstring) and Jonathan Allen(groin) are also getting MRIs today, but their injuries aren’t expected to be serious.

Well I shouldn't applaud really loud but the Seahawks are playing darn good against the Broncos & even though I don't say bad things about him, traitor Russell Wilson.  Yeah Hawks!

The Broncos need to work on their goalline offense. You can't keep turning the ball over there.

Re: Week One of the 2022 NFL Regular Season!!!

And week one is done! Lots of surprises. The only NFC West team to have a win is Seattle. Somehow no team in the AFC South has a win despite two of them playing each other. (Ties complicate playoff seeding and especially when they're both in the same division.) The Eagles emerged as the highest-scoring NFC team and the second-highest-scoring team overall behind the Chiefs. The bad news is they also gave up the third-most points behind just the Cardinals and Lions. They need to be high scoring until this defense grows some teeth.

That Eagles' defense needs work. In Nick Sirianni's press conference yesterday he talked of holding everyone accountable starting with the coaches. Vic Fangio spent a lot of the summer hanging around the Eagles training camp and even followed them to Miami for their practices there. He's said he won't coach in 2022 after being fired by the Broncos, but he could be the DC in waiting and the wait may not be long if current DC Jonathan Gannon doesn't right the ship.

The Eagles have two roster slots on the 53-man roster to fill with Andre Dillard and Derek Barnett both on IR. Punt returner Britain Covey is likely to earn one slot. I would expect to hear of multiple roster moves around the league later today. Pretty much every team lost a player or two to injury and will need a replacement.  Add in the vested vets who would have been paid for the full season if they'd been on a week one roster and you're apt to see quite a bit of player movement over the next day or two.

The Chiefs are still the Chiefs, and the Bucs are still the Bucs, but the rest of the supposed playoff teams all have work to do. Aaron Rodgers does not look like a happy player these days. He's not got a great cast around him. (As per the norm.) He could have rewritten the record books had the Packers ever surrounded him consistently with upper-tier talent. It must drive him a little crazy to see how some teams surround their QB with talent while the Packers count on him elevating whoever they put out there. Even when they have and develop a great player, they either trade the guy or let him leave in free agency. It has not been an ideal situation for Aaron Rodgers. He may be getting more than a little tired of it all.

Dak had successful surgery on his finger. (All surgery is successful immediately after the surgery. What surgeon comes about and says, "Nope. It's all screwed up!") Avoiding infection and healing up is now on the schedule for Dak. Maintaining upper body strength over the six to eight weeks for healing will be his challenge. You have limited upper body exercises available that don't stress the thumb. And it's his throwing arm that's injured. The Cowboy's trainers will have their work cut out for them.

I'll post the week two picks tomorrow. A quick peek at the schedule shows the Chargers/Chiefs on Thursday night headlining some pretty fun matchups.

Re: Week One of the 2022 NFL Regular Season!!!

Week 1 was strange. How things stand now: there is a tie for first in the AFC South and no one in that division has won a game.

Seattle, led by Geno Smith, is leading the NFC West. (What happened to those other QBs who are highly rated?)

Vikings and Bears lead the NFC North.

Several kickers missed what would have been game winning field goals.

Who knows what week 2 will bring?

Oh yes, someone reminded me about an "attention focused" thumb injury here in our town some years back...Spur's Superstar, David Robinson, had a thumb injury...He visited a South Florida Specialist for evaluation, and then a Texas hand specialist and was out 6 weeks after undergoing surgery....That thumb was talked about more than the Alamo! 😉

Now, after Dak's surgery, they are saying Dak could be back in the lineup in as little as 4 weeks......I bet "doctor"Jerry Jones will rush to get Dak back in the lineup to save their season, which could be a mistake in the long run!
