There is an article about why the Colts are the NFL's most frustrating team. The writer brings up some good points: one of which is the uncertainty of Phillip Rivers. He had a great game last week, and a good first half against Baltimore, but then fell apart. Fans never know wha tto expect from him.They will be tested when they face Tennessee on Thursday.

On Sunday, why are the Cowboys not using Ezekiel Elliott in the game? He hasn't done very well when he does play, but he seems to spend a lot of time on the bench. Maybe playing more would help him to improve even with Dak still out.

@Spurt , WR Terry McLaurin has done well in my fantasy lineups. I know it doesn't help the team win games, but he is a bright spot for Washington.

@teganslaw

this is probably the main reason why san diego fans wanted him gone! this should be no surprise now to colts fans. he has been good.....on and off, but never good enough and not even close to being an elite.

Re: Week Nine of the 2020 NFL Regular Season!!!

i was sad that the jets lost.......really wanted FLACCO to get a win!

it was a close game and not a bad one for monday night, even though the teams are struggling. it was certainly better than the sunday night game.

It'll be interesting to see. A lot of college coaches were a bit upset at the cancellation of the football season and there was speculation we could see a mass exodus of coaches to the pro ranks. Now that they're having a season it might be less likely. The success that Kliff Kingsbury is having in Arizona makes pro teams look to the college ranks more also. Do you hire yet another retread NFL coach, an assistant coach, or a college head coach? You can make a pretty good argument that the Matt Rhule hire and Kliff Kingsbury hires were the best new head coaching hires in the last couple of seasons. Matt Rhule has the Panthers competitive while the latest assistant coach hires (Joe Judge and Kevin Stefanski) and retreads (Rivera and McCarthy) aren't doing so well. Kingsbury might have been the best head coaching hire in 2019 and Rhule the best in 2020.

As of now, Jets may be first in line for draft pick, but they should be getting nervous

about losing their spot.

Andy Dalton will be back at QB as soon as he is covid cleared.

New York Jets quarterback Joe Flacco cemented his place in the record books yet again, jumping ahead of Joe Montana on the all-time passing list. The former Ravens star and Super Bowl MVP accomplished the feat on a 50-yard touchdown throw to wide receiver Breshad Perriman during Monday night’s contest against the New England Patriots.

Flacco is now 20th on the all-time passing list, surpassing Montana’s 40,551 total career yards.

@gardenman

A college coach can bring a refreshing change of pace to the NFL---but it doesnt always bring success....

A lot depends for these college coaches that go to the NFL to be successful---the NFL owner has to have the cash to pay the contracts and has to turn total control over to his football people Coach/GM/Scouts, and needs lots of cap space,  .....and they need the most important piece---QB. Everything has to fall into place....But if there are missing pieces and not a lot of cap space to work with, or the QB position is a question mark they can be big flops too-----

Look at Nick Saban tremendous success in college but not so much in the NFL---record of 9-7 and 6-10...look whats he's done in Alabama....He gets offers to return to the NFL but the Bama alumni see that he stays put...

Then there's Steve Spurrier who had college success in South Carolina but was a flop with the Redskins (he spent more time at the golf course than he did at Redskin Park, and of course Snyder meddled which didnt help)....

Even legendary Lou Holtz (99-29-2 career at Notre Dame) but was a miserable 3-11 with the Jets....

More College Football Coaches Who Failed in the NFL
  • Bobby Petrino: Atlanta Falcons (3-10) ...
  • Greg Schiano: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-21)
  • Chip Kelly: Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers (28-35) ...
  • Butch Davis: Cleveland Browns (24-35)

Even Jimmy Johnson lucked out with that Herschel Walker trade he got 5 players and six draft picks for one guy. Jimmy was an excellent evaluator of college talent and put it all together (although Jerry tries to take all the credit)......

A college coach MIGHT be better than a re-tread or taking a chance on a veteran assistant, but they have to have a solid foundation to work with....But you have to give some time for the experienced new veteran NFL coaches to mold their team too....even Kingsbury wasnt a success his first year...Rivera left Rhule with a good foundation and a lot of the Panthers problems was Cam....JMHO....and I think Mike Vbrabel has done a good job with the Titans...

Hiring any head coach is a gamble. There is no perfect formula. Having a couple of recent college hires be successful helps any college coach thinking of transitioning to the NFL though. The NFL is a copycat league. If Kingsbury gets the Cards to the playoffs, it'll get the attention of other team owners and GM's.

Lincoln Riley has had a lot of success. He was the backup QB to Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech. We saw any coach with any tie to Sean McVay get hired a couple of years ago. We could see something similar with Kingsbury.

We'll have to see how it all plays out.

Your right, its a gamble no matter what direction a team goes with a coach....

JMHO I think Rivera is on the right path with my WFT, but it will take time...he was left with a big mess...
