Re: Week Four of the NFL Playoffs! The Super Bowl!!!

The Eagles have added a linebacker coach in Nick Rallis from the Vikings. He's all of 27 years old. This is a very, very young staff. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Re: Week Four of the NFL Playoffs! The Super Bowl!!!

The 49ers seem to be interested in Kirk Cousins. I read that they offered the Vikings a 2nd, 4th round draft pick and Jimmy Garoppola in exchange for Cousins. Nothing has happened yet, but they could be in talks right now. Kyle Shanahan thinks that Cousins can lead them to playoff contention.

I haven't heard anything on the Colts side. Maybe they're working on something but keeping things quiet. Last year no one knew about the DeForest Buckner signing until it happened, so maybe the Colts just aren't reporting.

Re: Week Four of the NFL Playoffs! The Super Bowl!!!

It seems like a lot of teams are shuffling QBs with similar stats. Cousins and Jimmy G have very similar career stats, so I'm not sure flipping one for the other will help either team all that much. Cousins has a 69.99% completion percentage over his career. Jimmy G has a 67.45%. Cousins has a career rating of 97.9 while Jimmy G's is 98.9. They're very similar QBs. Cousins has stayed healthier so far, but that can change with one bad hit. Cousins is a bit more of a head case than Jimmy G also. Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't see an upgrade in the swap. Both are signed through 2022 so there's not even a big difference in contract length. Cousins even has a bigger cap hit in 2022, so the Niners are paying to get a guy with a bigger cap hit, who's a bit of a head case, and has very similar stats. Okay. Sure. I guess that makes sense. Just not to me.

That's interesting about a possible deal with Cousins going to the 49ers...yes, Kyle is familiar with Capt Kirk from both of their Redskin days together back in 2012/2013....Your right @gardenman  Kirk can be temperamental especially about any criticism and then that confrontation with his WR, he doesnt seem to have much rapport with his teammates....Now yelling at your WR  might be okay for a veteran like Tom Brady, but not for someone that hasn't proven themselves (Jimmy & Kirk may have the stats but can't seem to win the big games)..... I agree I think Jimmy G and Kirk's game are similar.....An odd proposed trade for sure....

Re: Week Four of the NFL Playoffs! The Super Bowl!!!

It's interesting that's for sure. The Goff/Stafford trade was pretty much a parallel trade in terms of stats. If anything Goff has been better recently than Stafford. Cousins and Jimmy G are pretty much identical also. It's like teams are just dying to give away draft picks.

If the trades were a straight-up player for player trade, they'd make sense. When you start bundling lots of draft picks, they make a lot less sense.

Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that “several NFL insiders” expect the Raiders to field calls regarding a potential trade of quarterback Derek Carr. Bonsignore suggests that the expected demand for Carr could result in a three-team trade that would result in the Raiders trading Carr and acquiring quarterback Deshaun Watson from the Texans. (Presumably, the Texans don’t want Derek Carr, perhaps because of its experience with his brother, David.)

Some have rumored GM Mayock wants two firsts....what is this guy thinking....he's been hanging out at the casinos a bit too long and watching those high rollers....Carr is NOT worth two firsts! 🙄

The Lions got two firsts and a third, plus Goff for Stafford, so two firsts for Carr isn't out of the question. Teams are throwing around draft picks like they're Mardi Gras beads this year.

Re: Week Four of the NFL Playoffs! The Super Bowl!!!

I wonder if the Lions will hang the "For Sale" sign on Jared Goff? Everyone's been assuming they'll keep him as their QB, but with so many QB needy teams, is that a sure thing? The Saints seem to be intent on resigning Jameis Winston to be their new QB. Sean Payton was talking him up big time yesterday. That still leaves a lot of teams in the market for a QB though.  The Jaguars will draft Trevor Lawrence barring a major glitch. The Jets may or may not draft a QB second. I'm leaning towards may. The Dolphins seem anxious to pull the plug on Tua already and could grab a QB third. (Or maybe they're just saying that hoping a QB needy team decides to overpay for their draft slot?)

It will be hard for the Niners to stick with Jimmy G after once again very publicly looking for better options in the offseason. As a general rule, a team has to appear to be one hundred percent behind their QB. The Niners clearly aren't a hundred percent behind Jimmy G. The Panthers and WFT were supposedly the top bidders for Stafford before the Rams jumped back in. Both are still out there waving around a handful of draft picks hoping someone has a QB for sale. What would they offer for Goff?

The Falcons say Matt Ryan will be back in 2021, but are they just saying that to stop a team from hopping ahead of them and snatching a QB?

When you go down the draft order, it's easier to list the teams that are set at QB than the ones that aren't. The first team we know won't draft a QB would be the Bengals at five. The next team that you know is set at QB are the Chargers at 13. (The Cowboys are kind of set, but until they sign Dak, you never know.) The Cards at sixteen are set at QB. The Titans at 22 seem set. The Browns at 26 with Mayfield may be the next absolutely set team followed by the Ravens at 27. The Packers and Bills at 29 and 30 are set. And the Chiefs at 32 are set. (The Rams are pretty much set but don't have a first-round draft pick until sometime in the great beyond.)

You can pretty much make a case for the other 23 teams all having some sort of need or uncertainty at QB. That's a crazy high number. Some are age-related (Steelers, Bucs, Falcons.) Some are due to possible internal issues (Eagles, Packers.) It's going to be one very interesting offseason.

I just hope Cam Newton doesn't come our way....he's so inconsistent and then there's the "attitude" (walking out of press conferences, not living up to his mistakes etc)......Id rather go with Kyle Allen or even try to trade for Bridgewater as a stop gap. I think the Panthers are ready to move on from him, but Bridgewater's contract may be a problem....so that leaves Fitzmagic, Foles, Brissett, Trub----SHUDDER!!!

The  WFT said they werent going to mortgage the future, and would be willing to wait for their franchise QB....I think that's a wise plan....I dont think Alex will be here next year....so that leaves Allen and Heinicke as our prime prospects....
