Those teams know one another very well and will be meeting for the third time. Their coaches will be trying to come up with something new to surprise their rival.
Three NFC East teams are in the playoffs too and could end up meeting again at some point.

I haven't heard if Jackson would play under the franchise tag. Some players don''t like to do that, and I don't know how he feels about being franchised. There has been speculation for a while about Jackson going to another team. He wouldn't lack for suitors. Anyway, this makes Jackson's contract issues more interesting.
SPURT: the Commanders fired OC Scott Turner. That's some good news for you.
happy news for ravens fans......
one of our BEST gets this season, ROQUON SMITH signed a 5 year deal for $100 million. $45 million fully guaranteed plus $60 million in total guarantees. he is the first linebaker to get $20 million a year AND he represented himself.
only 2 players in NFL history have 100+ tackles, 2+ sacks, and 1+ interceptions in each of their first five years. roquan smith and ray lewis.
interestingly, LJACK is also representing himself.

WACKY NFL WILDCARD WEEKEND-----who will emerge victorious and move on.......????
Seahawks vs 49ers---- Pete Carroll did a nice job coaching without Russell Wilson and Geno Smith at QB...Nice that former Roadrunner, Taliq Woolen, gets to play in a playoff game.....Enjoy it while you can, because JMHO I think the 49ers will end up being the NFC Representative in the Super Bowl. Even with a rookie at QB they seem to be running on all cylinders, all aspects of the game! IM GOING WITH THE 49ers!
Chargers vs Jaguars----Pederson did a good job coaching this young team, the future looks bright, but Trevor's inconsistency will prevent them from moving on THIS YEAR! The Chargers have the better QB....The CHARGERS win and move on.
Dolphins vs Bills---Sorry Dolphins----No Tua, no chance! And Cecil B. Demille couldn't have written a better script than the Bills playing and WINNING for #3.....
Giants vs Vikings----We all know "the close, but no cigar" Cousins who has problems in big games when pressured (I think his experience with Washington scarred him for life). And the Viking's defense isn't all that either.....They go up against an equally matched opponent with problems of their own--- a subpar o-line, no fancy weapons, a solid RB in Barkley. If the Giants can avoid turnovers and stupid penalties I think they have a chance since they have the better defense. I'm going with the upset and taking my sister's GIANTS in a surprise WIN
Ravens vs Bengals----BENGALS--- My cat Figgy will be purring with the BENGALS win....😺🐯
Cowboys vs Bucs----Will the Cowboys come out of their funk???? Especially Dak and where did the running game go????? And where has their best defensive player, Micah Parsons, been lately....Then there's their bumbling and soon to be replaced Coach, McCarthy.....The Bucs haven't looked that great either....But even a subpar performance by Tom Brady is better than Dak!!! The Cowboys last playoff game was the 1992 NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME played back in Candlestick in 1993..WOW that's a long long time ago...🤔 I'm going with Tom and THE BUCS......
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Yep, when not just the fans and commentators complain about the play calling, but it's the players themselves you know a change MUST be made.....One checkmark on Washington's "TO DO LIST"...Glad Turner is gone! Gotta find a new owner SOON to have things in place and decide on coaches and front office staff and to make a plan for the Combine and Draft....

Yep, weird about Lamar...when players represent themselves the results in contract negotiations haven't been all that good...

Yep, interesting how the AFC teams ended up with the best young QBS...

@gardenman wrote:A relatively quiet start to the firing season in the NFL. A few assistant coaches got the axe, but most of the head coaches have survived. So far anyway.
Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen has become a hot head coach prospect with at least three teams wanting to interview him. He's a good coach and a good guy, but his success is as much due to the players as his coaching. Having Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Miles Sanders, Dallas Goedert, and a rock-solid o-line would make any coach look good. If he gets a head coaching job elsewhere, he won't have those guys.
Owners and GMs often seem to forget the talent level where a coaching prospect comes from. Any offensive coach with those players is going to look pretty good. The teams looking to hire a new head coach tend not to have good players. Not enough of them anyway. Put Shane in Indy with the roster they had this year and he'd likely have ended up with the same record they had this year. He's a coach, not a miracle worker. There might be a swing of a game or two one way or the other, but players matter.
Belichick with Brady was the GOAT of coaches. Belichick without Brady this year was 8-9. Did Belichick forget how to coach? No. He just doesn't have the same players.
Owners look at the Eagles and say, "They went 14-3? We should hire a coach from there!" But if they don't have the same caliber of players, they won't go 14-3. Players matter. The strength of the roster matters more than the coaching. Build a strong roster and nearly any coach will win. Build a weak roster and the greatest coach of all time will struggle.
The coaching prospects know this also. Many will know they're joining an impossible situation. So, why take the job? They can make enough in a contract to provide for them for the rest of their lives. NFL head coaches tend to get $7+ million a year these days. on five-year guaranteed contracts. They can make more in five years than they could in twenty as an assistant. So, you sign on the dotted line, knowing that you'll likely get fired before the five years are up and pocket the cash.
That's why it's critical for the GM and Coaches to be on the same page and all work together! Egos need to be put aside. The team also has to have the cap space to be able to sign the right Free Agents to fill roster holes....Its truly a juggling act, and meddling owners need not apply!
