Isaiah Rodgers has been suspended for the entire 2023 season because of gambling. Several other players were also suspended.
He might have been suspended indefinitely, so this is better news. It still was a dumb thing to do.
Colin Kaepernick says that he is training and still has hopes that he can play again in the NFL. Wonder if owners know this? :
For anyone watching the USFL, this Saturday is the championship between Birmingham Stallions and Pittsburgh Maulers. The Maulers had the worst record last season, so this is a big change. The Stallions won the championship last season, so they're favored. Stallions QB Alex McGough is fun to watch and will most likely be the year's MVP. I wouldn't be surprised if some NFL teams have him on their radar, along with Stallions kicker, Brandon Aubrey.

Yep, CK put himself back on the NFL market, it's been awhile, (he first tried in 2019, after covid once again in 2022) but no one seems to care about him... really glad about that!
The NFL opened the door for gambling and partnering with sports betting companies, but it seems the league didnt make it clear to the players/team employees what the rules were on this.....now more info has gone out and the NFL is sending a strong message and making examples of those that didnt follow the rules....at least after time has passed they can appeal the life long suspension....Sorry to hear this involved a couple of Colt players...The Colts have now cut these players!

Update: the Colts waived Isaiah Rodgers and De Rashod Berry (I don't know who this guy is). Analysts expected the year suspension, but the team decided to be more strict. I don't know who will replace Rodgers.

Teams cutting guys for things like this is another reason why the Eagles holding onto Josh Sills is so odd. They clearly know something we don't.

@teganslaw @gardenman @sunshine45 @DrBabs @grandma r AND ALL SPORT FANS!
Well ESPN has announced more layoffs---
They've already announced Jalen Rose and Max Kellerman (thank God and Greyhound they're gone), as well as Keyshawn Johnson.....But surprisingly longtime MNF host--Suzy Kolber, and surprisingly draft expert Todd McShay.....
Others----Steve Young, Matt Hasselbeck, -----long time NBA analyst and former coach--Jeff Van Gundy......radio announcer Jason Fitz (I liked Fitz, he was a semi regular with the Golics---but radio is dying)......some baseball guy---Joon Lee, Sports Cnter's Ashley Brewer....former NBA player Laphonso Ellis......(some guess Jay Williams could ber brought back as Elli's replacemermnt!)
Yet ESPN paid Pat McAfee 85 mill to come aboard......

I occasionally watched Pat McAfee's podcast, but wasn't a regular viewer. Many long time fans aren't happy with his move to ESPN. They say that McAfee has sold out and he will no longer be able to say what's on his mind. Pat is controversial and off beat, but now that he's at ESPN it's thought that he will have to abide by their rules.
Stephen A Smith, is one of the least popular analysts, yet he wasn't laid off. Wonder why.

I think sports fans tune in to Stephen A. for 2 reasons ----one they are Cowboy haters and love to hear him give the Cowboy fans "the business" (one of the few that dares to say anything negative about them---personally I find him obnoxious and very very rarely watch him, mostly to see him make fun of the Cowboys)..... second, he's controversial and people hate him but like to argue with him so he gets ratings that way on all topics.....even though he's not very well liked...
Ive only seen Pat McAfee's show twice when he had a guest I wanted to hear, but Im not a regular listener...Yep, people are complaining "he sold out"....ESPN will expect him to tow the company line....we will see...

Suzy Kolber was a favorite of mine. She's one of the few female analysts who played the game.

I liked Suzy Kolber too, she was always excellent! I also liked Todd McShay, and Jason Fitz......
Rumors are Mina Kimes may take Suzy's place on MNF! The ESPN Execs like her and her contract is coming up soon and other broadcasters are also interested in her. It just won't be the same! Hey where's Kay Adams???? She could apply -----but she'd probably want too much money.....

This is traditionally a quiet time of the NFL year, but I keep hearing weird rumors about the Eagles going after a big name wide receiver. Uh, okay. People have us trading for guys (five or more different names get mentioned), or signing DeAndre Hopkins.
Wide receiver is not a need for the Eagles, so I don't know where all of this chatter is coming from. We have AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Quez Watkins, Olamide Zaccheaus, and Greg Ward, who are all veterans. We also have a stable of kids (six) in reserve.
I could see the Eagles making a move at linebacker or safety, but wide receiver? Eh, probably not. But the rumors are out there and circulating, so who knows?
