Lots of rain ......Kerrville, Hunt, Comfort...DEVASTATING flooding . Thankfully in San Antonio just light rain.....Prayers for those people impacted by the flood

@Spurt - as we speak, my friend in San Antonio has been texting me on all this mess. And she said there were alot of families camping and many are missing, along with their children. Beyond sad and devastating!
I remember when I lived down there, there was a tragedy of this same thing that happened. Many swept away. A few found alive and others not. So horrible!! My heart and prayers go out to all down there going thru this mess and suffering!
On the happy side, I just LOVE your kitty pics for the 4th! So darn adorable! ![]()
I thought of another player from your post the other day asking who we all really like, etc. and I always loved Peyton Manning! Was a fantastic player and his commercials are hilarious, although, I haven't seen him in any for awhile.

They said todays devastating flood is worse than the one on 1987.....one man said his brother and his family were swept away, I think they lived in a mobile home....so sad....The worst of the rising waters happened in the middle of the night when people were sleeping....Yep, lots of People had gone camping in the area, many RVs along the river, and a lot of children's summer camps going on in the area too...Praying for all impacted...such a tragedy...
I like Peyton Manning too, great personality and so funny, but my sister complains he picks on "her" poor Eli...LOL

I missed part of the news and didn't realize how badly flooded parts of Texas were. There are no words for the devastation.
I've always like Peyton Manning and I also like Kurt Warner. Peyton picks on his brother? I hadn't noticed, but maybe it happens on Manningcast which I don't watch. BTW, I think that Eli can handle Peyton; SPURT's sister doesn't need to feel sorry for Eli.

@Spurt - on the news tonight, they said there are still 13 girls missing from the camp. OMG, very upsetting! It just floors me how quickly the Guadalupe overflows and floods! I just can't fathom it! I hope they can find at least some of those girls alive! If not, I hope they can recover their bodies to give closure to the families. The one guy they interviewed said his dog is missing. ![]()
Regarding Eli, I never liked him for some reason! He seemed like a whiner to me! LOL! ![]()

My sister, doesn't like any criticism aimed at Eli, but Eli gives back as good as he gets.....Peyton teased Eli, and Eli made fun of the number of interceptions Peyton had in his first year ......oh those brothers....lol! It will be interesting to see how their nephew Arch Manning does in the NFL he will enter the Draft in 2026...
There were several camps---girls and boys, the area had a power outage in addition to the flooding, I don't know why the camps didn't have an alternate plan in place where they could have called for help if an emergency occurred---a fall, capsizing of a canoe, a bee sting resulting in an allergic reaction, even if there was no flood anything can happen!!!...What about a cell phone that uses any tower, I wonder if that would work--- I show 7 registered towers and 25 unregistered towers that could service the Kerrville area. I also have a mobile router that picks up the nearest network, which I used for my laptop during a power outage.....Or an old ham radio or cb radio to reach the Fire Dept or Police Dept or hospital to call for help in the event of an emergency if a phone is unable to be charged????? One of the camps was telling emergency crews if parents didn't hear from them it meant their child was OK, that seems like a flawed method to me.....smh!!! What a mess!!!! They're using a fleet of helicopters to rescue people....in addition to rescue teams--National Guard, as well boats, ambulances, and other rescue vehicles....
I just hope and pray the kids are found safe!!!

Anytime you're near water, flash floods are a risk. Whenever I see a house for sale near a stream or creek, it's a no for me. Unless you're way, way above one, the risk of a flash flood is always there. I've seen quiet meandering streams turn into raging rivers on more than one occasion.
Satellite phones are cheap enough these days (often under $400) that isolated camps should all have one or more there for an emergency. A satellite phone, an AED, and other basics should be fairly standard stuff at any major event in the wilderness.
Back to football. Bryce Huff says now that he knew early on that he wasn't a fit in Philly. Yeah. We like players who show up and play hard. He didn't. For some odd reason, he spent many of his snaps falling down, and then staying on the ground. Not the most effective way to rush a passer. He could have built on what he does best in Philly, but instead, he sulked and moped and didn't play hard when he got on the field. I don't know where his head was last year, but it wasn't on the football field.
Nearly every defensive player on the team except for Huff had their best season ever as a pro. They took to the coaching and did as they were coached. Josh Sweat went from being a borderline roster player to a highly paid free agent. Milton Williams went from no one to the highest-paid free agent. Zack Baun went from a special teamer to an all-pro linebacker. The kids (Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith Jr) all played great. The problem in Philly wasn't the coaching. It was Huff.
I don't know where his head was. Did he come in and expect the coaches to bow before him as the great free agent signing? He just never did anything positive when given the chance. And he was given a lot of chances. The number of times I saw him just fall down as he was rushing the passer and lay there as the o-lineman put a hand on him was ridiculous. Under Vic Fangio, you have to earn playing time. He didn't. He was given chances and just never performed. We'll have to see how he does in San Francisco, but he won't be missed in Philly.
"Article from Total Pro Sports, 5 teams who will make the 2025 playoffs: Bears, Raiders, Patriots, 49ers and Titans.
5 teams who will miss the playoffs: Steelers, Rams. Lions, Vikings and Broncos."
Yeah, not the sanest predictions I've seen. The NFC North is going to be a dogfight. The Packers should be better. The Lions will be very good. (Assuming they haven't completely gotten the wrong coordinators.) The Vikings will go as JJ McCarthy goes. The Bears are probably fourth-best in that division. The Raiders are also likely fourth-best in the AFC West. They'll be better, but the Chiefs, Chargers, and Broncos are all pretty good. I'm not wildly optimistic about the Chiefs. Their inability to show up for the Super Bowl was alarming. Andy Reid may have reached his expiration date with them. The Bills will own the AFC East, but the Patriots could sneak in as a wildcard if the Dolphins have issues. The Jets are the Jets. The Niners are a pretty safe guess. The Titans are only possible because they play in the AFC South, but they're still the fourth-best team there.
I don't see the Rams missing the playoffs. The Steelers have built a pretty solid one-year team. I wouldn't be shocked to see three AFC North teams make the playoffs with the Bengals, Steelers, and Ravens all getting in. God only knows what the Steelers will look like in 2026, but they've built a pretty good roster for 2025. The Lions would need an epic collapse to miss the playoffs. Everything for the Vikings hinges on JJ McCarthy. The Broncos are pretty solid but the AFC West is going to be tough.

@Spurt - I think for the famlies that their daughters won't return home, there will be lawsuits, etc. as they have been showing a lot up here and the one news conference, they were slamming whoever was speaking about not evacuating sooner. The guy didn't have an answer. Guessing the flooding happens that fast that they don't have a clue? But if it was raining heavily, I wouldn't even allow the camping trip until all was clear for days or at least a few weeks! Mamawick lives near Canyon Lake and said it'll all come there eventually to that lake but she said no danger, thank goodness!! I love the Hill Country but horrible what's been happening!
@gardenman - I was laughing last night, as they showed Nick at the Phillies game on the news and he looked about as thrilled as Spurt and I would be at that game! LOL! I was trying to see if he even had his eyes open as he was up in one of the suites and it was a little dark. I'll pass along your comments to my one coworkers about the Bills - he loves them but he said at this point, he's given up on them ever getting to the Superbowl.

The Bills don't have any real competition in the AFC East. Maybe the Dolphins if they don't have issues, but they always have issues. (A sulking Tyreek Hill, for example.) The Patriots need a lot to go right. The Jets, well, yeah. They haven't been much since they lost Joe Namath.
The Bills start out week one with the Ravens in Buffalo. That's a tough way to start the year for them. Once past that, things settle down for a bit. You get to week nine against the Chiefs before they run into another tough team. And frankly, I'm not sure how tough the Chiefs will be this year. Weeks 12, 13, and 14 they have the Texans (who slipped a bit last year), Steelers, and Bengals. Week seventeen, the Eagles. One or both teams may be resting guys or not caring as much in that game.
The other teams they play, Jets (twice), Dolphins (twice), Patriots (twice), Saints, Falcons, Panthers, Bucs (maybe a handful), and Browns aren't overly scary. Eleven or twelve wins seem like a given. I'd put their win floor at ten. The ceiling is 17. It's hard to find a sure loss in their schedule. The Ravens will be a big test early on. The Bills can beat them though. They probably will lose a game or more, (the Eagles and that Texans/Steelers/Bengals trio will be tough) but other than the Ravens, maybe the Chiefs, and Eagles, they'll likely be favored every week. (Assuming Josh Allen doesn't get dinged up too badly.)
The playoffs are where they'll need to shine. They have the talent to win it all. They just need to stay healthy and catch a break or two.

I laughed about Nick and the Phillies game....he probably took a little nap...I wouldn't blame him if he did LOL
I can't imagine how Jayden and other Washington football players felt when they went to a Wizards basketball game, they've been the NBA's worst team for quite awhile now.....BORING!!! Although the players did appear to have fun at the Capitals NHL hockey game....
Yep, I suspect lawsuits on Kerrville's unprepardness...This is where News4 Zone weather shines....I went back and looked at Chris Suchan's Facebook Page, on July 3rd he posted a Flash Flood Watch and Warning for this area with heavy flooding (and this would've been on the APP and TV forecast too) ..so he did his part...And people in Kerrville know how this area is prone to flood so the kids camps and RV parks should have been evacuated and people living near the river should have been alert...But when other forecasts showed just a 40% chance of rain (1 to 5 inches) and in the upper 90s for Friday and weekend.. with all the 4th celebrations planned, and the people thought on the positive side, 60% chance it won't rain....BUT THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE!!! Because what happened in the Hill Country is that moisture and ramients of a Pacific tropical storm moved in and the rain storm parked itself over the area and the river and it just sat there and didn't move causing the devastating flooding at 2:30 AM when everyone was sleeping...Their excuse is that this was a once in a lifetime event ( I dont buy it because similar flooding happened in 1987!)
I know that in Comfort their Firehouse has a warning system and when bad weather is detected a siren goes off signaling people to evacuate, so Comfort may have experienced flooding and damage, but no loss of life!!!....they are on the ball, Kerrville is not, and Kerrville is the bigger town....Kerrville has a population of 24,532, while Comfort has a population of 1,920
As far as Canyon Lake because of the drought its only at 46% capacity so flood runoff water should fit in nicely and the dam will hold the water in per Chris Suchan...so thankfully NO flooding to towns in the area or downstream....
Whats strange Frericksburg, my favorite Hill Country town, a little north of Kerrville got a lot of rain too and a small part of the town is on the river, but no mention of them....but they said damage was mostly to roads/bridges, low buildings, fences and livestock ..so some good news.(but the poor livestock)..Flood waters also went down towards LBJ State Park near Johnson City too
