Re: NFL News and Notes for February 2025!!!

The Chiefs have reportedly given Travis Kelce until March 14th to decide his future. He's due an $11+ million roster bonus on March 15th, so they want to know what the plan is before they hand him $11+ million. He could be a jerk and say he's coming back, then after getting the $11+ million change his mind and retire. The Chiefs may end up releasing him regardless of what he says if they're afraid of that. Eleven-plus million dollars is a pretty big chunk of cash. If they release him they could then sign him to a new deal without the big roster bonus. That makes the most sense for them. Expect him to either retire or be cut before the roster bonus gets paid out.

Re: NFL News and Notes for February 2025!!!

Reports have said that if Travis Kelce stays he will transition to a role playing part and will no longer be a focal point in the offense. Apparently, this would be Andy Reid's decision. The Chiefs signed two TEs who will be starters.

Blockbuster rumor: Colin Cowherd started the rumor that the Giants might trade #3 draft postion to the Rams for Matthew Stafford. The Giants signed Stafford's brother -in-law Chad Hall as assistant WR coach. The family connection is probably where Cowherd got the theory. I don't see it happening, and I wouldn't count on this. It is interesting, though.

Re: NFL News and Notes for February 2025!!!

If the Rams trade Stafford it'll be for a late round pick. He's too expensive and too old for a high first round pick. No sane GM would trade the third overall pick for him. Well, the Giants' GM isn't all that sane, so maybe?

Re: NFL News and Notes for February 2025!!!

Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier followed Kellen Moore from the Cowboys to the Chargers to the Eagles. He could be following Moore to the Saints next.

Nussmeier will interview for the Saints’ offensive coordinator job Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

Re: NFL News and Notes for February 2025!!!

@Spurt - LOL - that's kind funny about Wemby and Chris and what they tried to do!  I didi read that online about Stephon winning that MVP.  I also saw it on Facebook as I get news feeds on them.  I'm happy for Stephon!

As I write this, I'm sitting here watching the replay of the Eagles parade!  I'm glad as when I left for work, I did watch it on streaming but had to just use the closed captioning.  They're at the speeches part and it's hilarious with all the bleeping out!  LOL

As far as Travis Kelce goes, he needs to just wrap it up and go travel with his girl!  Or is it he maybe doesn't want to be around her 24/7 or vice versa!  LOL!  I'm glad he has a deadline to decide if he will resign!

It is going to be a long off-season!  But I need the break as I'm exhausted from the Eagles constantly stressing me out with their games!  LOL

@Spurt

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Nussmeier will be leaving. Our DB coach Christian Parker is in line as a DC candidate and that would be a bigger loss. He's done an amazing job with the Eagles DBs and you'd hate to lose the guy. It's tough when you lose a coordinator as they tend to poach guys off your old staff. They know who the good coaches are and want them with them.

No whispers out of Philly on coaching plans. I'm sure lots of stuff is going on behind the scenes, but things are being kept compartmentalized for now. We'll learn more at the Combine when guys with Eagles' credentials are walking around who weren't on the staff last year. "Wait? You're with the Eagles?" The Eagles tend not to make too many coaching announcements. They just sign guys and they go to work.

There was talk the other day that Mekhi Becton had re-signed with the Eagles but nothing official just yet. It could be true or it could be wishful thinking. The report came from someone with "sources" inside the organization. Eh, okay. It could be true. Who knows? I would expect an official announcement pretty soon if it is true.

Cowboys and Giants fans are looking at the Eagles and asking, "Why aren't we doing what they're doing?" The answer is "cash." Jeff Lurie puts a lot of cash out upfront on players in the form of signing bonuses that lets a player invest that money right away and the return they earn on those investments helps to offset a lower overall salary. That helps to keep the player happy, the cap manageable, and good players on the roster. You need an owner willing to part with a lot of cash upfront to make it work. The Giants and Cowboys tend to have stingier owners.

Lane Johnson says he wants to come back for many more years. So much for the endless retirement rumors. I think he's as tired of hearing the press speculate on his retirement as the rest of us are. Every year the media insists the Eagles have to draft his replacement. Uh, no.

More accusers have come forward accusing Justin Tucker of inappropriate conduct. Eh, okay. Some may be true, some may be just lining up for any money he hands out to make them all go away. We'll have to see.

Shades of the Eagle's AJ Brown......Wemby was mocked by the Denver Nugget's Nikola Jokic for bringing a book to the NBA All Star Game, Wemby said he always reads before each game!!!! Ignore him Wemby, reading is fundamental to being an intelligent person!!!  The names of the books he's reading were not given!

On Sports Overtime David and Don really got into it....They were responding on Dak Prescott's recent comments....

"I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat them, for the most part, when we play them. I don't want to say 'check the record' when they're the guys holding the trophy right now, so credit to them. They earned it and they deserve it, by all means, but yea, we're very close. It's our turn, and it's on us."......

Checking the record....since 2022 the Eagles have won 4 and the Cowboys 3 games.....

David whined how everyone should give Schottenheimer a chance....Dak wasn't healthy last season, they need a running back and they need to fill other positions, sign Micah Parsons, they can be a 10 win team, not a 4 win team like people are predicting.....Don countered they don't have the cap space to rebuild, no they will be in the 6 or 7 win category. The Cowboy fans will buy into Jerry's hype that they are a Super Bowl contender and they aren't.  The Eagles and Washington are better teams! David countered, oh Jayden Daniels just like all the hype for CJ Stroud and look what happened to him .....Don said Daniels is better....Richard was more focused on MLB Spring Training but added SARCASTICALLY, David, the Cowboys are "all in", quoting Jerry last year, and Richard laughed....David is just IN DENIAL!!!

Justin Tucker could be subject to discipline under the NFL personal conduct policy. The Ravens are supporting Tucker right now and will wait to see how this turns out. There are 16 therapists accusing him of inappropriate behavior.

Colts C Ryan Kelly says he would like to stay with the team but also wants to test the open market. I expect him to move on. PFF considers Kelly under rated. He is a good blocker and , when healthy is one of the best centers in the NFL. The concerns would be his past injuries and his age (32 this year.) If a team overlooks this, they would be getting a solid player.

BTW, a Cowboy fan I know says she has put the Cowboys in a "time out." At least until August. She is tired of all their problems and of Jerry Jones always hyping up the team. I thought that was funny since "time outs" are usually for bad behavior.

@Spurt - as far as that Nikola goes, maybe he should pick up and book and read!  He might learn something instead of being an idiot and mocking Wemby!  Just unreal!

As far as David goes, the more I read on him with the Cowboys, the more he looks like an idiot too!  Why doesn't someone suggest to him that since he's such a huge Cowboy lover, he should see if Jerry will hire him for his media person!  He'd be good for that job since he buys into everything Jerry says!  And that comment about Jayden?  Are you kidding me  Unreal!!   Good for Don for getting all over him too!

LOL...that fan putting the Cowboys in "time  out"🤠My aunt was a fanatical Cowboy fan, but she hated Jerry Jones and said she temporarily suspended her support until Jerry no longer owned the team.....She still hated my Redskins despite her not being 100% on board with the Cowboys ... LOL...
