Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2020!!!

Looks like Mariota's a bust......

I dont know about the Giants and Daniel Jones....although Garrett may be good at developing QBs they have a questionable Head Coach in Judge....I wonders if players will just downright stop putting out effort in order to get rid of him...........

Looks like your Slayer's been a bad boy on Twitter....tisk tisk....of course he backed tracked and apologized and deleted the tweet.....

What's going on with Firtzpatrick ---Before the Dolphin's practice Coach Flores walked him off the field with his arm around him and Fitz looked distraught....sounds like something real serious is going on in his private life--poor guy!

I don't know how last night those high school kids played football in all those uniforms and pads ...it was 96 at game time....WHEW!!!  I took out my trash and came back drenched in sweat (the high was 104 yesterday---we are breaking records), but it looks like some "cooler fronts" are on their way next week and it will start to cool down headed into September....we might even get some days in the upper 80'S....HOPE SO!!

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2020!!!

Mariota has been struggling in training camp, but Gruden still praised him and plans to give him extra time to to practice and become acquainted with the system. Also, Mariota has been named the second best backup QB for 2020 by PFF. Maybe he isn't a bust, after all. Gruden has some plans in place, but not sure where he is going by working out different QBs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Garrett eventually became the Giants head coach.

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2020!!!

I think Joe Judge is a boom or bust head coach and I think it's about 90% bust right now. You need the players to buy in, and I'm not sure they are buying in. The Giants' management made it clear they wanted Garrett as the head coach, but the Cowboys kept him in limbo. They ended up with Garrett as the OC, but he's likely the head coach in waiting. We'll have to see how the Giants do this year. The schedule makers didn't help them any with the Steelers, Bears, Niners, Rams, and Cowboys as their first five games. An 0-5 start is very, very possible, if not likely. In their first ten games you might be looking at one or two wins. An 0-10 start isn't impossible. They're likely to be looking around come Thanksgiving and deciding they need a change.

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2020!!!

Alex Smith did a full workout for the first time...Coach Rivera called it a very big step and he expects to see Alex in a fully padded session next week......

What's the deal-----With Dillard hurt Jason Peters said he wants more money now that he's moving to LT .........

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2020!!!

Glad to see Alex Smith improving that much. Kudos to him for being brave enough to start over.

The Eagles have to decide what to do about Jason Peters. Pay him the extra money, or keep him at guard position. If they won't give him what he wants, will he just refuse to play?

Earl Thomas plans on filing a grievance against the Ravens. He wants to recoup his money, and said that he wasn't released because of actions detrimental to the team. The Ravens don't agree. They have to prove that it was the reason he was released. Stay tuned to the outcome of this.

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2020!!!

Back to an older post for a second. Ryan Fitzpatrick's mother died which is why he was upset and being comforted by his coach.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Eagles move on from Jason Peters. He's pretty much a one year rental now and the Eagles have a number of kids who look okay, but lack experience. Matt Pryor has taken over at left tackle for now with Jordan Mailata behind him. We have both of Auburn's starting tackles from last season in Jack Driscoll (their right tackle) and Prince Tega-Wanogha (their left tackle.) We have a lot of other kids also. The only way the kids can get experience is by playing. If the team truly believes in the kids, giving them the start might be the best bet.

Earl Thomas is likely to win the grievance. It's very, very hard for the team to win. Every previous issue has to be thoroughly documented along with whatever steps were taken to produce a remedy. Former GMs say it's almost impossible for the team to win.

Thanks for the info on Fitz....sorry to hear about his mom...prayers to him & his family....

As for Peters sometimes these vets price themselves out of the market and teams will move on to younger cheaper players that are just as good.....

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2020!!!

Yannick Ngakoue is heading to the Vikings for a secound round pick and a conditional pick that will be either a third, fourth, or fifth depending on the Vikings winning the Super Bowl and Yannick making the Pro Bowl. He'll play under the franchise tag this year for $19 million plus, then be a free agent in 2021. It's a pretty high price for a one year rental unless the Vikings are confident they can resign him.

Re: NFL News and Notes for August 2020!!!

We're just two weeks from the first Sunday of the 2020 NFL regular season! It's coming fast now. The final cuts will be coming up soon and the rosters finalized. Teams will start scaling back practices now to protect their players from injury and everything will be pointing to that first game.
