Commanders doesn't sound like the name of a sports team, unless its referring to the Navy military rank of Commander which "might" convey an image of courage, toughness,
leadership and teamwork.
<<A Commander is the fifth rank among officers in the USN. A Senior Officer, a CDR may command a Frigate, Destroyer, Fast Attack Submarine, Smaller Amphibious Ship, Aviation Squadron, and more.>>
Similar images come to mind with the name of the Univ. of Tennessee team--- the Commodores.
<<Commodore was an early title and later a rank in the United States Navy, United States Coast Guard and the Confederate States Navy. For over two centuries, the designation has been given varying levels of authority and formality.

Just a few possible points of clarification, I suspect the ' Commander' moniker, weak though it is, is supposed to connote Commander in Chief... Also the U of Tenn. nickname is the Volunteers, not the Commodores, the Commodores is the nickname for Vanderbilt. It makes a bit of sense in that Vandy was named for Cornelius Vanderbilt and The Commodore was his nickname...
@Spurt I do agree with you that all of the Qwapital teams have lame nicknames...

Russell Wilson just killed the precision passing contest at the Pro Bowl Skills comp. It wasn't even close.

And the Jaguars have a head coach! They're signing Doug Pederson to be the coach. I'm betting Trevor Lawrence is both happy and a bit nervous about that. Doug has a reputation as a QB guru, but Wentz deteriorated under him. Was that due to Wentz, the rotating cast of QB coaches/OCs, or did Doug play a big role in that? We'll start to find out this fall.

Wilson isn't bad on the eyes, either. The competition was interesting. The players showed off talents I wasn't aware of.
Maybe part of Doug Pederson's problem was the Eagles front office. They didn't get along well. It might be better in Jacksonville.

Four other coaches were reportedly offered the Jags job and turned it down because of Trent Baalke, their GM. So, I'm not sure how much better their front office is than Philly's. It could even be worse. Byron Leftwich reportedly wanted to bring in his own hand-picked GM to replace Baalke if he came to Jacksonville. When told Baalke was staying, he said no, he didn't want the job.
The Jags have some decent talent on the roster. They also have that first overall pick in the draft. Will they keep that pick or move down for more picks? If you go by the draft value chart, the Eagles' picks 15, 16, and 19 add up to the value of the first overall pick. Could the Eagles bundle those three picks to move up and get an Aidan Hutchinson or Kayvon Thibodeaux and the Jags get three firsts?
Doug's not a bad coach. The Philly media just wore him down. I'm assuming the media in Jacksonville isn't quite as rabid dog-like. The big question mark I'd have with Doug would be "What happened between you and Carson?" They came in together in 2016 and were solid. In 2017 Carson was arguably the best QB in football and on his way to the MVP before getting his knee injured. By 2020 Doug and Carson were barely on speaking terms and Carson was a shadow of his 2017 self.
With a kid QB in Trevor Lawrence who's already on his third head coach (Urban Meyer, interim HC Darrell Bevell, and now Doug) in just his second year, I'd want to be sure I was giving the kid the best chance at success. A head coach whose star QB ended up not even willing to talk to him after four or five years would make me a tad nervous. That's not necessarily the history I'd be looking for in a new head coach. Even if Wentz was hard to work with (what QB isn't?) I'd want a HC who would do whatever is necessary to work with the kid.
In Carson's first year Doug had a pregame meeting with another head coach (Kyle Shanahan?) who told him he had a good one in Carson and Doug said, "As long as we don't screw him up." And then he did. He's got another good one in Trevor Lawrence, and I'd want to make sure he wasn't going to screw him up. What did Doug learn from the Carson Wentz issues and what will he do differently now?
You don't want to screw up a Trevor Lawrence. You want to build up a kid QB not screw them up. We don't know if Doug can build up a kid QB over the long-term. We do know he can screw one up though. I'll be watching things down there to see how it all turns out. What happens with Trevor Lawrence will ultimately determine what kind of a head coach Doug Pederson truly is. IF Trevor performs at a high level and is line for the league MVP on a consistent basis, Doug's a good coach. If they're not talking to one another in two or three years, eh, not good.
Doug really needs to build a good offensive staff that's in tune with building up Trevor Lawrence. The kid has lots of potential as long as the coaches don't screw him up. Doug has to be sure they don't screw the kid up. If you mangle the careers of two franchise QBs you're never getting another shot.

I agree about Russell Wilson...😍
Well in other news in addition to a federal investigation into the Bruce Allen/Jon Gruden email scandal it looks like despite Danny Snyder's house cleaning of the organization he could still be in even more trouble...
It apppears that witnesses from the harrassment cases were recently interviewed and despite Danny's denials of not being inolved at all (others within the organization were the culprits not him or so he said, and allegations against him personally "were outright lies") but these current witnesses tell a different story----how Danny was present and was a witness on several occasions when some of this harrassment and groping, and lewd behavior took place and he did nothing to stop it, and just laughed and smiled....And in one case in particular he did proposition an employee who was appalled and balked at his behavior, his own attorney witnessed this and told Dan "this is a bad idea", and another incident took place at an "award's trip" at Dan's Aspen home.
The women said there was no one in HR that they could complain to and they were threatened not to talk, they went to the NFL but received no support ....HEY NFL DO THE RIGHT THING AND GET RID OF THIS SCUM ONCE AND FOR ALL!!

It sounds like no one really wanted the Jags job...thats gotta tell you something....a lousy GM and then you got an owner surrounded by rumors his goal sometime in the future is to ultimately move the team to the UK....Good Luck Doug---
Shahid Khan is also having problems filling the stadium with "fans" (Jags ranked 30th, Washington 31st---Detroit is last) ....Word to Khan in hot climates have an AIR CONDITIONED stadium ---- no one wants to sit in the hot heat and high humidity to watch a lousy losing team....at least if its air conditioned you might draw in a few folks with nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon...

The Jags job is both good and bad. You've got a good young QB. Lots of cap space ($70+ million.) A high draft pick. The roster has potential. It's not the toughest division in football. You should be able to get six wins without blinking twice. Ten wins isn't out of the question. The bad is the GM's not the best. The owner meddles. The team could end up in England. No winning tradition.
There are issues, but there are issues with every team. Assembling a good staff gets tricky. Assistant coaches might be nervous going there.

Here's a nice story about how one of your Eagles helped out a Texas girl.....
A Philadelphia Eagles player traded his football cleats for dancing shoes to make a Texas girl's dream come true after tragedy.
Eleven-year-old Audrey Soape lost both her father and grandfather last year. When the time came for her school's daddy-daughter dance, Audrey's mother Holly reached out to her favorite NFL player, Eagles safety Anthony Harris, for help on social media.
"I told him about the situation, and surprisingly he was more than willing to do it," Holly Soape told "Fox & Friends" Friday. "It happened really fast. He said yes probably about a week before, so it was kind of a whirlwind."
Harris also paid for Audrey's dress, shoes, hair and makeup for the big event.
"She just felt like a princess all night," Holly said.
Audrey was nervous to meet her date but said the NFL player broke the ice by asking her about her day and talking about football.
"I was very nervous because I didn't know what I was going to say," Audrey told co-host Ainsley Earhart. "At first it was kind of awkward because we weren't talking yet… But then he kind of came up and started talking to me."
Holly expressed gratitude for Harris' act of kindness after a tough year for the middle schooler.
"I was so anxious and excited for her because she just had the most terrible year," Holly said. "For someone to show up and to teach her that people do show up for you, it's just been beyond a blessing. Just the power of God and how he makes these situations happen has just been unbelievable and remarkable."
As for Harris' dance moves?
"They were very good," Audrey said with a laugh.
