Marlon Mack suffered a hamstring injury and will miss a few weeks. Robert Turbin is week-to-week with a hamstring injury also, but since he's been suspended the first four games of the season, he should have enough time to heal.
Now some of the other players will have to step up.
Oh no so your team got bit by the injury bug too-so sorry-
-I wonder if all these injuries have to do with what the players got in the CBA and less practice time.......
Belichick seems to think so.......
“I’m in favor of total preparation for the players for the season, and I think that’s been changed significantly and, I would say, not necessarily for the better, when you look at the injury numbers.
“You have a gap between preparation and competition level. And I think that’s where you see a lot of injuries occurring. We get a lot of breakdowns. We get a lot of situations that players just aren’t as prepared as they were in previous years, in my experience anyway.”
There was also this comment from an NFL executive about ACL injuries...
"If players aren’t doing the right kind of training, designed to keep the tendons and ligaments working, they can become vulnerable to the devastating injuries we continue to see. ACL tears, Achilles tendon injuries … these and other soft tissue injuries become more common in players who are staying “in shape,” but not focusing on the right things."

I'm not sure some of the injuries aren't caused by players getting too strong. Tendons and ligaments have a finite strength and if the muscles get too strong, the players' bodies might just be tearing themselves apart. Some injuries are unavoidable. If you've got a leg planted and someone rolls into it, you're going to get hurt. A lot of the injuries we're seeing these days though are noncontact. A guy will just be running and collapse. I don't remember those injuries occurring decades ago.
The Eagles have been lucky with the injuries so far this year. They've kept Chip Kelly's sports science program in place which may be helping. A lot of the injuries last year were contact injuries which are unavoidable.

You're soright!--- Some of the contact injuries are just part of football and teams just have to expect them, but I just dont remember so many non-contact injuries...particularly with tendons and players being done for the season.....

You don't see these types of injuries in many of the other sports either. It's mostly football where you get the bad noncontact injuries. What's the difference? Football puts more emphasis on strength training and I think some players are just getting too strong. I wouldn't be surprised to see teams focus less on strength training and more on functional strength.

The Colts released Shamarko Thomas, and signed db Ryan Delaire, formerly of Carolina. Reich was not happy with Thomas, and said that the game ejection was the right call.
Gardenman, I remember you mentioning the problems resulting from strength training before. It's a valid point, and I wonder why the NFL doesn't make the connection. Maybe they will, eventually.

Why did the Eagles sign Hackenberg???? I understand they want to be cautious with Wentz, Foles is banged up....but what about Sudfeld?.....Is Hackenberg just fodder for the preseason???????????
You are right about injuries in other sports and perhaps too muc strength training in football. In the NBA most injuries are ankle quad or hamstring sprains, lumbar/spine or patellofemoral syndrome.(where the kneecap (patella) grates over the lower end of the thighbone (femur), causing chronic inflammation and pain.) These are all game related injuries and result in players missing a few games and not that serious. (Now one player missed almost an entire season except for 9 games---this someone had a quad injury and shall remain nameless A teammate with a more serious quad injury returned to play quickly....) Season ending injuries are not common in the NBA....

The Hackenberg signing is odd. Foles is back practicing and Sudfeld and Callahan are both healthy, so it doesn't make a lot of sense unless the Eagles are planning to trade Foles or Sudfeld. Foles' contract is very high at $20 plus million next year, so he'll likely move on. Sudfeld is loved by Frank Reich and the Vikings offensive coordinator. It's possible the Vikings would like him as a backup and future replacement for Cousins. It's a signing that makes little sense right now, but may make more sense in the near future. Hackenberg has never shown much though. It's a bit of a headscratcher. Maybe the Eagles see something in Hackenberg. Who knows. The Eagles had seven quarterbacks early in the OTA's so they've been testing the market a lot. Hackenberg has good size and a strong arm, but hasn't shown much.

The practices with Jets & Redskins has resulted in multiple fights....primarily between LB Zach Brown and former Redskin now Jet WR Terrelle Pryor.....Also Jets CB Trumaine Johnson gave Redskin T Morgan Moses a cheap shot, and LT Trent Williams came to his rescue and shoved the Jets player and a fight broke out...Moses nearly got involved in another fight and Gruden escorted him off the field....Then fighting broke out in the spectator crowd too, thankfully a storm shortened the practice....
The injuries continue for the Redskins with promising WR Robert Davis out for the season with ligament damage to the outside of his right knee and a broken tibia. He was injured in a 7 on 7 drill while jumping for a pass.
TE Manasseh Garner tore his ACL in the Patriots game.

Well, I didn't even know the Eagles had signed Hackenberg until I read your post, lol! (Was watching the PGA and post shows!)
Have no clue as to why they would sign him!! But I guess time will tell..... thanks for the info!
(Such a shame about these various injuries.)

The Hackenberg signing is still confusing. I'm intrigued to learn more about his contract. Is it a minimum contract or something more? Hackenberg has the physical tools to be an NFL quarterback, but hasn't shown much. Why sign him now unless you're planning to find a hole for him? The Eagles were four deep at quarterback before signing Hackenberg, so there's not currently a role for him. Could the Eagles move both Foles and Sudfeld, keep Callahan as the backup and Hackenberg as the third string?
