I'm a Penn State alum and have met Franco and Dana several times through the varsity club.  He's always been a lovely person,

He's a legend and will be missed. Such a gracious man. Many moons ago I was at my rehersal dinner for my first wedding. We were a large group at a local restaurant  called LaMont's in Pittsburgh which sits high on a hill overlooking the city.

 

Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier came into the restaurant while we were eating. We all thought it was so cool to see these football greats so close by!  On the way to their table, Franco stopped at our tables.  He asked what the occassion was, congratulated us, asked about the date for the wedding...just polite small talk. To us that was Everything!

 

He could have just kept walking, but he took those few minutes to stop and chat. I'll never forget it. So down-to-earth.  It's very sad to learn of his passing.  Thoughts and prayers to his family.
