Apologies, I misspelled his surname, he's a beloved ex-Red Sox baseball player and the news is rippling through the region.  Also, curiously, there's been a lot of strange incidents with tourists in the DR.

Last I heard, he is out of surgery and stable.  Hope he recovers ok without any complications!
