@781Florist your post make me smile, laugh and feel sentimental! I understand completely your feelings about this series. I've only visited two stadiums, the old Yankee stadium and Shea. During my son's college days in Boston, we passed Fenway MANY times. I reached out and touched it. I should have made arrangements to go on a tour and didn't. Our visits were always so packed with other things. I hope to get there someday. So, what am I going to do before Friday? Look up Dodger stadium and really read about and really look at pictures. Just enjoy, what hopefully will be, good baseball from both teams. No nerves, just enjoyment.
@JaneMarple I'm so sorry your boys didn't win. What a run!
World Series starts on Friday, between the Yankees and Dodgers, on Fox, start time not determined as of this posting.

@dmod nj Hi! Cong (choking noises...) ratulations on the pennant. One thing I will never take away from New York fans (of any of your teams!) is that their passion and loyalty is deep and true!
I wanted to pass along a tidbit about Dodger Stadium that I read years ago (and cannot remember where)....
When it was being designed in the late 1950s (!!) it was the first park to use the cantilevered deck system (NO support poles!). When you consider that County Stadium in Milwaukee was designed just 10 years before Dodger Stadium the difference is amazing.
Even Candlestick Park which opened only 2 years before LA had support columns (obstructed views,).
When older stadiums were deemed "obsolete" because
they couldn't accomodate Luxury Boxes they had to tear them down and start anew.
Brooklyn's favorite--Walter O'Malley and his architects futuristically envisioned a deck where cars could drive in and watch the game. While that never came about it was a space that was perfect for the construction of Luxury Suites and enabled Dodger Stadium to evolve with the times and remain with us today.
They have constantly maintained and renovated the park and it is (although 50 years younger) almost as beloved in LA as Fenway is in Boston.
I never saw the post-1973 Yankee Stadium but I was blessed to have attended Opening Day 1970 in the REAL Yankee Stadium. It was absolutely beautiful and I was heartbroken when they completely changed it in the early 70s.
I've been to Fenway. Olympic Stadium (Expos), Exhibition Stadium and SkyDome (Jays), Old Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards, Anaheim , Dodger and Jack Murphy (Padres). I think that the parks that were around in one's youth are always the fan favorites.

Nobody's team is worst than mine (even the owner is talking about selling) ... but there's no team a true Sox fan "hates" more than "them d-a-m-n Yankees."
And I haven't rooted for the Dodgers since they left Brooklyn ...
So, Donna, as @781Florist said ... (cough ... cough) congratulations ... and I'll see you on down the road, girlfriend ...

@SoX @781Florist thank you for your posts. I enjoyed reading them!!
@SoX I truly hope your team is MUCH better next year! Not only for the fans, but the city, as well.
@781Florist you are a wealth of knowledge. TY for sharing it with us. I looked at pictures, I've seen a million times, but looked at them differently because of the info you posted. TY!
I completely understand your feelings. I feel that way about teams. My STRONGER feelings about teams are more in hockey, but I do understand baseball.
WS, Game 1, Fox, 8:00 eastern.
Yankees vs Dodgers.

I just put my dollar on the kitchen table. No real preference as to which team wins, but for fun, DH picked the Dodgers and I have the Yankees for the series.

I watched the special on the Dodgers after their game against the Mets. It was about them in the 80-90's and if it was supposed to endear fans, let me just say it failed, lol.
Go Yankees!

Well last night Freddy Freeman made me fall in love with baseball again.

Hi @Nancy Drew congrats on the Dodgers win! Are you a Dodgers fan? Hate the Yankees? You can be honest, we're friendly. Atlanta fan?
@AuntG Is the dollar for the series or for each game? Cause you may lose either way. Those Dodgers are a good team!
@redhead handbag queen lol lol I love your sense of humor. I really don't know this team, other than Otani. When I watched the previous playoff series, it seemed the announcers were announcing a team of one....the Otani team, not the Dodgers. I hope that makes sense.
Congrats to the Dodgers on their win. Freddie did what he was supposed to in that game.
I have a million questions for Boonie and he better answer all of them! GRRRRRRR! Why would you put Nestor in, when he hasn't pitched since the middle of September? Hill has been lights out and would have been the perfect choice. Why did you take Cole out at that time. He was ticked off being taken out? The sooner you go to the bullpen, the worse it is for this series. I have more, but I won't bore you. lol
Next on my list to speak with is our captain, Judgey. When exactly do you THINK *rolling my eyes* you may start hitting? You don't have a lot of time left to START HITTING THE BALL! * I feel so much better screaming that out loud.*
Both teams had reasons to be upset at the homeplate umpire's calls. Those kinds of calls can't happen in the WS.
That was a crushing loss!
Today, is Game 2, 8:00 eastern, Fox.
Starters are Rodon and Yamamoto.
@jbinrwc miss you.

@dmod nj, yep, one whole dollar a game. I went to bed thinking I had won. This morning DH told me about the grand slam! Wow, that should give the Dodgers a mental boost.
