My Twins are being sold, which I think is a good thing. The current owners are way too cheap. They are contracted with Target Field at least through 2059.
They also dropped their contract with Bally's for next year and are going with MLB so will see how that shakes out with Mr. Red. He went on a rant about how much we already pay for cable which is mostly for hockey, lol.
I'm cheering for the Padres and of course the Yankees The Padres because of Luis Arraez.

We're getting closer @dmod nj.

I am posting with a heavy heart because I only just saw online that 3 days ago one of my favorite baseball heroes passed away.
In the mid 1970s the Red Sox made a trade with the Indians that brought us one of the most colorful and talented pitchers ever to take the mound in any ballpark.
Luis Tiant had an ERA in 1968 of 1.60. That mark is STILL the lowest ERA for a full time starter in the AL. (Bob Gibson's 1.12 in the NL that same year is the other standard.)
In 1975's fabulous World Series which officialy was won by Cincinnati in 7 games but was really won by the Red Sox in 6 games because of a horrendous non-call by the home plate umpire on Ed Armbrister's catcher interference which led to the Reds winning game 3 in the 10th inning.....
.........OK, elephants and Red Sox fans never forget. Umpire Larry Barnett was booed every single time he came to Fenway until he retired.
Luis started 3 games in that series and the Red Sox won every one of them. I can still see the huge headline in the Globe that shouted "El Tiante Elegante".
And he was. Right up to the end. He loved Boston and Boston loved him back. The fact that he played for the
Yankees in 79-80 didn't even dim his luster. Years later he was a fixture around the team as a good will ambassador and even had a Cuban Sandwich (delicious!) stand outside Fenway on Jersey St.
Time doesn't stand still for any of us and the prowess of
youth gives way to the tribulations of age and eventual mortality. But fortunately memories bring back all those wonderful feelings....like when Luis would lower his glove to the belt and straighten his back and twist 180 degrees while looking skyward before delivering a nasty strike.
Godspeed, Senor Tiante. Thank you.

....By the way, as if I didn't feel sad enough....
The Dodgers just defeated the Padres to move on to the NLCS.
I have only three words to say about that.
LET'S GO METS!
In the AL I still have a chance for a rooting interest as the
Guardians are still alive as of this writing.
Mets/Guardians would be my preferred Series, but since I have said that out loud it is probably the kiss of death for both of them.

@redhead handbag queen l'm so out of the loop, so thank you for the update on the Twins. Do the Twins have a buyer already? Have you and Mr. Red ever considered buying them? lol I KNOW you'll do right by your boys. lol
I hear ya about the price of cable. So, if I understand you correctly, you'll be able to watch your boys, but only through the MLB subscription?
I, too, was cheering for the Padres. I'm sad they could not pull out a win.
So, it's Mets vs Dodgers. LET'S GO METS!

@JaneMarple I am so very happy for you!! You KNOW I'm rooting for the Mets in the series with the Dodgers!
LET'S GO METS!!!

@781Florist good to see you. Also, beautifully written, as always!
LOL I did laugh out loud about Tiant's luster not dimming cause he played for the Yankees. Of course, I do remember him in pinstripes, but I ALWAYS thought of him as a Red Sox.
Recently, there have been so many deaths of people I grew up watching. My usual comment is....how old were they? When I do find out, I'm shocked! Where did the years go? How is it possible they are that age? Well, how in the world did I get to be in my 60s? lol
When my sports heroes pass, it really is like a gut punch. Brings me right back to my youth and a big ole spot light on how much time has passed.
Thank you for sharing the story about the 1975 WS. I honestly don't remember it, but I know I watched it. I'm going to see if I can find and see that horrible call on youtube. If I find it, I'll post it.

@dmod nj They don't have a buyer, and Mr Red keep threatening to move to winnepeg just to tick me off, so the Twins are out of our $$ range.
And now we were notified Spectrum will no longer use cablecards, so Mr Red is trying to figure out how to watch hockey now, baseball will have to what. We'll probably use the Bally's app and Hulu and drop cable all together.
I didn't know I was allowed to cheer for the Mets, but yeah, Go Mets. LOL
