@Greeneyedlady21  @Redsoxmom1  @Cakers3  @jbinrwc  @VaBelle35  Red Sox/Yankees opener for Thursday  is postponed until Friday. Rainy weather expected on Thursday in the Bronx. 

I'll put up a new thread by tomorrow morning for the new season.

I actually do not like it when the Red Sox and the Yankees play on Opening Day.

To me, it is more fun to let them crank it up a bit before meeting.

You need to let the pan warm up before you get the sizzle!  Since they are going to open up the season on Friday, I want to say hi to all my fellow Red Sox fans in NY and NJ.

Make sure to welcome our boys warmly and cheer every victory (three this weekend?)

Hi @781Florist  welcome!  

I never thought of their games like that before.  You make a great point!   We know it will be sizzling in the remaining series throughout the year.  Even if one or both of the teams are struggling in their future games, they seem to bring their best when they play one another.

I want to say it has been years and I think Pete Rose deserves a shot for the Hall of Fame.

Yes he gambled. Must admit I do not remember much of the argument.

However he was a great player and good for baseball.

I do not know if this was discussed on another thread.

I said my piece and am leaving this thread. Actually, I think I am running away from comments.

I always liked Rose.

My background, a Brooklyn Dodger fan and watched them play in Ebbets Field.

Brooklyn went crazy when they finally won the world series over the Yankees and Brooklyn cried when they left, along with the Giants. And most of all, afterwards Brooklyn hated the name remaining Dodger because it belongs to Brooklyn, named by the people, dodger for dodging the trolleys.

First of all, welcome.     I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. I started a new thread for the new season and didn't see this post.  Please join us on the new thread.  All fans are welcome. 

I agree, I believe he belongs in the HOF, as well.   He admitted he bet on games.  There is no evidence, that I'm aware of, he bet against his team. He said, he always bet on them to win.    

I look at his betting as a disease, no different that any other disease.   Unfortunately, he accepted a lifetime ban from baseball.  Could it be changed?  Honestly, I have no idea, but I hope someone would advocate for him. 

I think if the cheaters, steroid users, are eligible to be on the ballot, so can he be on the ballot.
