Re: Anyone else bothered by this?

I'm a NY. Giant fan, and I remember our coach at the time Tom Coughlin,  had rules that were ridiculous. These were grown men, and he treated them like children. Tom saw the light, and learned to bend a little, from then on we had success. He bent a bit too much toward the end of his career with the Giants, sadly. I understand your points, but I still believe in player empowerment.

Re: Anyone else bothered by this?

I too listen to Sports Talk radio as an aversion to the Political talk.

I agree athletes paid millions of dollars should do their job regardless of their respect for the coach, however I also get how that doesn't happen.  If I relate it to my own experience.  When I've worked for bosses that I didn't respect and showed lack of respect for me and the hard work I put in, I didn't work as hard.  When I've had a great leader I put in more work and effort.

Re: Anyone else bothered by this?

There are bad coaches just like there are bad bosses. You keep trying but at some point you get beat down trying when it seems futile.
