Re: 2025 NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

@Spurt , congratulations on the Commander's big win. I'm glad I told you there's always hope. I do feel sorry for Baker though. It will be tough for Washington to take on the Lions in Detroit, but even if they lose to have gotten that far after last year is quite the accomplishment.

But on a "different" note the clown show continues in Dallas. I'm so over JJ's merry-go-round but here we go again, another head coach search. It makes it hard to be a Cowboy's fan, but when you grow up in Oklahoma and that is your closest NFL team it's what most of us were so I've been one for life. Then when I moved to Texas I literally lived down the street from their Valley Ranch headquarters so it naturally continued here. What's a gal to do? Afraid we're stuck with this incompetent GM and owner for the rest of his life...

Yeah, the talk had been that McCarthy was staying, then this morning word of what JJ wanted (smaller staff, half-price for coaches with incentives, short deal) made it seem unlikely McCarthy was coming back. If JJ insists on those terms for any new hire, he won't get an upper-tier coach. Better coaches and coordinators won't want those terms any more than McCarthy did. It'll be interesting to see how this evolves.

Having been thru our Redskin Dan Snyder years I can sincerely empathize and sympathize for what Jerry Jones is putting you and all the Cowboy fans through....your right Dallas is a clown show....It's difficult, and years of loyalty come into play, but many brave Texas football fans are switching to the Texans.....Besides this is the USA and you have the freedom to cheer on ANY team in the NFL, and with the internet and social media you can get all the info you want in order to follow a team beyond your geographic boundaries.......You don't have to suffer the pains of having Jerry Jones as your team owner.....You have a choice! However, I understand if you decide to stick with the Cowboys and remain loyal to your favorite player or players.....

Even though my favorite team, Washington won, I do like Baker Mayfield too.  You may want to follow Baker's example, even though he was born and raised in Austin, the home of the Texas Longhorns, he played for their rival, Oklahoma, and still resides in Austin in the off season despite the Longhorn presence.....

Re: 2025 NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

The official word on Nakobe Dean is a torn patellar tendon. That's typically a six to twelve month recovery. If he's ready in six months, you're looking at maybe August, probably later. He'll get the best possible help, so it might not take too long. The Eagles tend to be cautious bringing guys back, so I would expect maybe late October or early November. I'm not sure it'll affect draft plans or free agency plans.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr is lurking in the background so there's a body to fit in for the short term. We have a couple of kid linebackers on the practice squad and one guy on IR. We should have a good handle on his recovery by free agency so if a move needs to be made it can be made.

@gardenman @teganslaw @soonersis

I'm not expecting a close game with the Lions at all, our defense isn't very good.....both Payne and Allen need replacing, CB Lattimore appears to still be injured, we need help in the secondary.....We have a great young franchise QB Although Jayden makes the offense go and does everything possible to make it work, we have no real running game...On the oline we need to replace OT Wylie , and we need a legit LT,we need to replace C Deiter we need another WR to compliment Terry.....we need to develop Luke McCaffrey and use him more....

Although the Lions have injuries on defense they have an explosive offense, a solid QB, WRs, RB.....Since both teams seem to go for it on 4th down, punting shouldn't matter.....Can we trust a kicker that boinks FGs????

But going to this game is just gravy and Washington is ahead of schedule on the restructure....

@PARedbird @gardenman

Interesting take by David Chancellor....he says all this drama over the terms that McCarthy would have to agree to in order to resign with the Cowboys as their coach, is just a way to get attention and keep the Cowboys in the news while the playoffs are going on despite the Cowboys 7-10 record. So Jerry Jones..lol .......And @PARedbird you know what a big Cowboy fan David is....

On Sports Overtime....the guys said the Cowboys are going to have to hit on every draft pick for several years considering the mess their roster and salary cap is in, plus they will also be dealing with serviceable players whose contracts are also coming up in 2025 to add even more problems to the contract situation.

They also said that Micah Parsons who keeps his mouth going, telling fans that Dallas will make the Super Bowl next year......NEEDS TO KEEP HIS BIG MOUTH SHUT!!!! LOL!!!

@Spurt

Yeah, the Cowboys have roster issues. They have around 25 free agents they have to re-sign or replace. Parsons needs a new deal. They only have four or five players who could start on any team. CeeDee, Parsons, Dak, Diggs, and... Yeah. That's not great. Rebuilding the roster will take time. It's not a one or two year endeavor. This will take some time.

Re: 2025 NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

I think I'm seeing a repeat of last week's Minnesota-Detroit game. Sam Darnold is struggling and holding onto the ball too long. 5 sacks already! Minnesota needs to change things at halftime.

Re: 2025 NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

@Spurt - first of all, congrats to your Commanders!!  I swear they want to give their fanbase a heart attack with their games lately!  LOL!  IT was nerve wracking last night!

As long as Jerry is in charge, nothing is ever going to change for the 'Boys.  The coaches don't even last!  I did ready about that stupid comment Micah made too.  I just rolled my eyes at it.  Just unreal!  Another one who wants attention!  I guess jealous David is not happy with our Eagles!  LOL!

I'm watching the Vikings game - gawd, they are not doing well at all!  Being that it looks like the Rams will win, the Eagles are not going to have it easy next week.  They did not play well at all yesterday.  Of course Saquon did, though.  Even a few days before the game, I saw Jalen's one press conference on the Philly news and he really didn't look that well to me - something still seemed "off" with him.  We'll see what this weekend brings!

Interesting as it's now halftime and they said Deon Sanders is interviewing with the Cowboys and McCarthy is interviewing with the Bears.  We'll see how that all goes!
