For me, 'favorite' bags ebb and flow. It's only over time I figure out what my 'go to' bags are and sometimes they're very different from the ones I find most aesthetically pleasing or that are theoretically my 'favorites'. A few that seem destined to fit into both categories are my Clayton and Dome Buckle satchels and those Donegal print 'totes' (that are really satchels) from a number of years back.

In my pantry with my cupcakes...

I have to agree with chrystaltree, in theory. But in real life, I find that there is one Dooney I prefer using over all others.... it's a domed satchel, with a zipper top, and an outside large back zipper pocket. The particular bag is black and the leather is pressed into a zebra like pattern. Very subtle, since it's all black. The handbag is a good size, but not overly large. I love the look, I love the size and shape, and it's easy to unzip with one hand. But it's that outside back zipper makes it one of the most functional handbags I own. I have lots of other similar shape and size handbags... but they lack that back zipper. It makes a huge difference when I need to get my keys. Even my Mom commented about the handbag and when I mentioned the back zipper she said I should buy that bag in more colors. That's amazing, since she thinks I have too many handbags (and she is right on that!)

Well, LJ, we all know mothers are ALWAYS right, yes? And we should obey them. So I think the "respectful" thing to do would be to buy another of that type purse.

Irishrose: Smile I will, if I can ever find it. It's not a current style, but now that I know exactly why I love that handbag, I am on the lookout for something similar. I have a Florentine leather E/W satchel that has the same shape and a large front flap pocket. It also works well, but it's much heavier than the other satchel.

My favorite Dooney of all time is my AWL Satchel in British Tan. The classic Dooney Satchel. The one I reach for most, the Florentine Domed Buckle Satchel. Guess that's I own four of them. And "yes, I am one of those that will purchase a handbag in several colors when I find one that REALLY works for me."
