Since we have moved back to Ohio from NC I will be buying winter boots for the first time in 20 some years, and a winter coat.

Our house in NC just sold so we will be making a trip later this month to finish moving our things and signing the papers.

@Imaoldhippie   Congratulations on the sale of your house and your move.    I hope you are happy with your decision.

Remember,  in the colder winter months, it's all about LAYERS!

I hope you find boots and a coat(s) that you like.

@Imaoldhippie

QVC has some nice winter boots on sale.  These have mixed reviews but at the price point will give it a chance.  They're Cougar brand, I have 2 different pair of that brand and love them.

@nyc1 ..................Thanks I do remember what Ohio winters are like I am also looking for long johns and tops to layer with.  We have down sized a whole bunch.  My brother and I owned a single wide on nice lots with a 2 car garage and storeage shed.  Its paid for and the property taxes are less than half of what we were paying.  Plus my son and grandkids (adults) live here and less work and upkeep for us.  So its a win win.  We both have family that live in NC, SC and Florida so we can always go visit if we start to freeze. lol

@Imaoldhippie, I live in Ohio and I rarely wear winter boots or a winter coat but I'm not in the snowier parts. I'm in the Cincinnati area. We really don't get much snow at all here. You see people out in shorts even on the coldest of days. I think their brains have frozen and they know not what they are doing. I don't like to drive wearing a coat so I usually just wear a sweater or cardigan over my clothes and that's it.

My in-laws live in North Carolina. They tend to get as bad of weather as we do, oddly enough. I love it there though.

@Qgirl26 .............We live north of Dayton about 75 miles in Logan County and its hard to tell what kind of winter we will get.  Since living in SC and NC for the last 20 plus years I dont even own a heavy jacket or water proof boots.  I do think I will need some type of heavy jacket and boots.  When I lived here several years ago we got lots of snow.

@Imaoldhippie, it's very possible. It seems Cincinnati is always right on the edge of the big snowstorms and it always misses us. I like snow so this is a great disappointment for me. The weatherpeople always think it's great but I don't like it,. Edited to add that they think it's great that it misses us. I'm always like a 5 year old who wants to make a snowman and is bummed. lol.

I definitely understand your wanting to have the winter items because you really might need them where you are. Welcome back to Ohio!
